    1. Are the firearms laws in Canada similar to the US or more like the UK? It's quite easy to get a certificate in Germany compared to the UK, my wife has one but I don't. Tony
    2. Hello, I've seen some different variations of the MC ribbon suspender, either as pictured or a wider looking suspender. Where they made by several different companies manufacturing them any way they preferred? I know modern miniatures can be bought but, are there also copies made to deceive out there? Tony

Hello Darrell, I'd like to hear some of the history too, where did your uncle pick it up? Does it still work and have you fired it? Here's a pic of not so much a vet bring back, but more hidden till the Europe calmed down. The story (which I don't believe) is that an officer hiding in the shed at the bottom of the garden from the advancing allies forgot to take it when he left in the morning. The shed wasn't built till a few years after 1945. I think it belonged to my wife's Grandad who was an old soldier from WWI working as a medic in a field hospital just a few km from his house. It didn't go to a POW camp but spent 2 years working in the field hospital before being released in 1947. I've attached a picture of him, can anyone say if he's wearing a P08 holster?
    5. He served on the front from the end of March till the beginning of May 1945. I know he was fighting in S. Germany but somehow ended up being in a British hospital for prisoners till his release in 1947. Tony
    6. If you ever want to give it away to a good home Rik, give me a shout. Tony
    7. Could sniper school have given him some rank? What is a Sturmmann? Tony
    8. Dave, I can't spot the difference between a HJ buckle and a SS buckle. You know I don't walk on the dark side. Laurence, he is not yet 18 in the photo and it may have been taken after May 8th as his wound certificate is dated May 24th. I don't know about the rank, he didn't have any Heer experience but I know he had manned a flak gun at the age of 14 which I believe was normal for the HJ. Tony
    9. You seem to know your stuff Laurence (I wouldn't have spotted that) and that is also the reason for a lot of collectors dismissing this picture as a copy although it is 100% original. The best explanation I have been told is that the tunic and insignia were put together in a hurry for the photograph. Has anyone seen anything like this in the past? Tony
    10. British POWs, a destroyed Spitfire and Germans on the beach looking towards a place out of their reach. Tony
    11. Hello, I thought I'd show off some of my Battle of France photos. Does anyone have any similar photos they don't want anymore? These ones show a march past and some German soldiers on the beach. Tony
    12. Hello all, I have a pic here showing a sniper in the SS (sorry, I'm not allowed to show his head on the internet) and would like to hear your comments on his uniform. I have been told all sorts from "a little boy dressing up in a make believe uniform," "the photo is a modern fake" and more. What are your opinions on this possibly non textbook uniformed soldier? Tony
    13. Helo Paul, I just did a search on the net and found this book http://www.bagchee.com/BookDisplay.aspx?Bkid=B29112 and this little piece of info http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/war/wwtwo/col...onials_01.shtml They isn''t much detail (well, I don't know about the book) but I also found a piece on them here http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/brochures/romar/72-20.htm half way down the page. Hope there's something there you didn't already know about. Tony
    14. Hello Rik, Is it original? Any chance of a pic of the back as I've never seen one before? Thanks Tony
    15. Hello Greg, I'm not that well informed on DRL or DRA badges but now you mention it, I can see the difference. I didn't notice it before. Even the certificate is stamped D.R.A.f.L. Tony
    16. Is this a DRL certificate? It's pre-war and I can't find the badge anywhere although I packed his other things safely away (book, death certificate and paperwork etc.). Is post 1933 paperwork the same? It is a booklet really with 15 pages. Tony
    17. Hello Darrell, The nick on the pin must be a good way of telling an original. I still can't spot a Floch no matter which badge or cross is put in front of me. Tony
    18. I only have this one which I think is silver. It is a family piece and I always thought it was my father-in-law's but he's not wearing it in the only photo that exists of him in uniform. Could they have been awarded to anyone or only those that had something to do with the SA? Tony
    19. Thanks Nick, I'll have to spend more time on the computer which will please my wife. Not. Tony
    20. It's a bit off topic so I'll put my reply in the lounge. Tony
    21. I paid a bit more than that for it Jim, ?20 I think it was. Tony
