    2. The King died in early 1952, the Queen's coronation was about a year later. Summer 1953 I think. Tony
    3. Rick, Just something I noticed that doesn't make any difference to the grouping; the framing must be post 1952 as the plaque says "by appointment to her Majesty" and the RAF cap has the Queen's crown. Very nice lot though. Tony
    4. How's it going Eric? Yes that's the one you had a look at a while back and there really is not doubt that everything is original. Looking at that disc you could make one yourself with as many different sized punches as you can find and say but look, that one is original so ....... Tony
    5. Hello, Can anyone tell me if this badge is good or bad from the scan alone? I don?t have it with me but have been told it isn?t easily bent. Does it date from WWI? Thanks Tony
    6. Gilbert, When I joined up it was an any old Tom, Dick and Harry careers office. I was down there having lunch earlier in the year and went in search of the office but couldn't find it. It was on the left hand side of the main road through Blackheath on the way to Lewisham. They did try to talk me into joining the Queens Regiment but I didn't. I received the Queen's fiver there, inflation eh. How about more details on your recent buy and letting us know where you find them. Tony
    7. Cheers for the ID Gordon and Joe. Joe, have you only 66 variations? I'm catching you up, I think I have about 20 different makers so another 50 and I'll be in front. Tony
    8. So I now own a Wagner! I've never seen one before, are they hard to come by? Tony
    9. Did he enlist at Blackheath too? That's where I enlisted only quite a few years later. Tony
    10. Hello John, It does doesn't it. If it wasn't for the ribbon suspension bar sticking out at the side you'd think it was almost 60 years old. Tony
    11. And the other side:
    12. I'd have thought a moderator could tell me without pics Here's one side:
    13. Hello all, Does anyone recognise the maker on this EK? Is it A something? Cheers Tony
    14. I've only ever seen modern frames for the trio or pair but saying that, I've been in Germany since late 83 and British awards are unfortunately thin on the ground here. Tony
    15. Don't want to be big headed but wasn't it was the combined French and Spanish fleets. That virtual rum is going down well to both of you. Tony
    16. Gilbet, I'm with Joe. If you thought there wouldn't be any interest, I'll have a pint of what you're on. Tony
    17. If it's the same person Rick he must have left London before 1901.
    18. Don, My son wants to visit all the aircraft museums he can so who knows, one day maybe. Tony
    19. Very nice Gordon, now I know who beat me to the little white box. Tony
    20. Well that's a good reason for not finding him there. I've been told he's not in the book 'The Sky Their Battlefield' either which lists casualties from enemy action. Tony
    21. I've asked elsewhere and have been informed he's not on the Soldier's Died CD either so, the lucky bugger must have survived the war. Tony
    22. Hello byf, Try these links http://africanhistory.about.com/library/bl...endence-SA2.htm and http://www.col.org/54cc.htm Tony
    23. I might have found him. Geoffrey Kemble Grinham Kerr Shropshire Light Infantry, Lieutenant Royal Air Force, Captain He didn't turn up on the 1901 census so he could have been Scottish or even related to RW Kerr from Canada. At least you have a name for him and may even find more info if you are prepared to pay for his medal index card download. I wonder why the NA site has him down as a Captain and his medals don't. Acting rank maybe? Tony
    24. Forgot to mention before, it's the British War Medal or BWM. By the way, I was in the KSLI museum 2 weeks ago with Dave B. Shame we didn't have his name then as they may have had some info too. Tony
