    1. Robert,

Unfortunately, I imagine like yourself, I've only familiar with this badge from H?sken's unknown section (Page 364 Tafel 21). I've seen it offered occasionally but never had the opertunity to hold one yet. They appear well made, how does it feel to you? Is it heavy?

Th?ringia seem to have had a habit of issuing service type badges (assuming that they are all original), you may remember this one that I've never really discovered what it was for http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9796 & then there was this one as well http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=11006

For what it's worth, I like the look of yours, it's well designed & made.

      Cheers

    2. The second also came from the same source, & has some imperfections to the obverse with air bubbling in the white enamel causing a couple of pin point sized holes.

Reverse is totally unmarked apart from Ges.Gesch on the pin plate. However the distinct pattern in the pebbling under the red enamel has the same peculiarities as the marked version, so it must have come from the same die.

    3. The one marked Reichsberufwettkampf der Deutscher Jugend isn't exactly a tinnie as such, it's more of a participation badge given to all the entrants of the competition. In later years the participation badges became more elaborate & the winners of the contest were awarded the Kreissieger, Gausieger & Reichssieger badges which I'm sure you've seen, with the eagles holding the DAF cogwheel with the H.J. Diamond on it with the dates 1938, 1939 & 1944.

I'll move your thread to the tinnie section where you will probably get a better response for the other tinnies in the picture.

      Cheers

    4. Nice badge Pete. I can't find out any info on these badges to indicate what they were for. My original thinking was that they were the "event" badge, much like a tinnie. However they come with & without the oak leaf surround, & there's evidence to show that they may well have come in silver as well as gold.... So perhaps not a tinnie type badge after all.

I was sceptical about them but if you check out post #2 you will see that I got 2 of these in with a grouping I purchased sometime ago. Using the documents I obtained the other day, I was able to ascertain that all of the 5 large Meisterschütze badges were indeed awarded to the same man, so it is possible that these 2 were originally part of the grouping & not "thrown in" later.

      Is your one magnetic?

    5. Robert,

If you track down a '44 badge I will be definitely be able to give you a name if the badge was issued (as with all badges there were spares that were not issued) as I have the names of all 2337 recipients for that year.

The odds of putting a name to a number for the years preceding '44 lessen with each year as the list is less complete, however I'm hoping that sometime in the future I'll have the complete list as I now know what documents I need to look for.

      Cheers

    6. For anyone interested I am now able to supply names of many of the recipients of the numbered Gaumeister badges from 1941-1944. I've managed to locate some documents with most of the winners & badges issued for these years, 1944 is complete with the other years less so...... I also have a few details of the 3 year Gaumeister recipients but the list is also not complete.

Below: Gaumeister 1942 #1043 issued to Karl Quoo?, of Bregenz.........
