    1. As you can see I've started a fresh thread on the Steno' organisation. The above posts were taken from the Stickpin thread & I've edited them slightly to "fit" them here. Please post any Steno related items you have.

I'll start off with a members book & pin set I have. The cover has bleached out for some reason in the picture I'm afraid, but is actually a deep blue colour.

    2. Here's another, this one from Th?ringen. A bronze 25yr service medal, unfortunately it came with the incorrect ribbon which I have removed. This version also came in silver for 33 years service & gold for 40 years.

The scan really doesn't do this justice, the medal is so finely struck with beautiful detail.

This is the first pattern, there were also two other patterns issued in Th?ringen, an enamelled cross & a gold cross.

    3. Pete,

I remember you posting as well, I think it may have been on another forum though...

I have 3, Baden, Sachsen & Lübeck. There are also those with only NSDAP on the reverse but as yet I don't have one. I'm not sure how many different ones there are.

I've always thought these were worn by the donation collectors as well, but recently I came upon a Mitglied book for these & it states that the book has to be carried at all times that the badge is worn but doesn't seem to have any reference to it being anything other than a standard donation card so I don't know. I think the person who owned the card was an enamel collector as well as there is only one donation stamp in it, just enough to get the badge.....

      Here's my Lübeck

    4. Sorry Dan, it's the Deutsche Stenografenschaft Leistungsabzeichen in Bronze, it also came in silver & gold, but I don't know exactly what it was awarded for.

When you say the "brooch like version with date", do you mean the "Deutscher Meister" version like below? If so do you have one as I've never seen one of these only in drawings. If you do have one, don't post it here, start a new thread & we'll put the Steno stuff together.

    5. I'd never really thought about it but I guess (without looking up the dates) that the Faithful Service Cross may well be the National replacement for the regional awards. This happened with the Fire Service awards, individual states issued their own until 1936 when the Reich version came in & replaced them.

From what I understand with the Bavarian one, the pre TR version had an acorn where the Swastika is, but I've never seen one of these.

    6. Nope, I've never seen any paperwork either. Mark, I believe these are literally long service awards for the Bavarian Chamber of commerce. People who had worked for the State of Bavaria for the requisit number of years recieved one. There was also a gold coloured one for 50 years.

What interests me about this is that you find them with various marks, silver content marked like yours, with "fine silber", & sometimes with nothing at all. I'm not sure why, whether some are fakes or period copies, or just a different production I don't know.....

      I do love 'em though.

      Cheers
