    1. What gets me is..... why carry the body back? Surely his papers and collar tabs would have been enough? What kind of info does a body provide? "We had a brown haired Frenchman with a beard in front of pur positions.... but now he is dead..." ?

HI, I am pretty sure that these citations or Annerkennung certificates (not ALL the ones for patrols, but the REAL citation ones) were a step above the EK... when the next medal was one step too high. Some Korps gave out certificates for patrol work, these are not the same as an annerkennungs Urkunde. Signature in Von B?hn. I assume the action must have been in early September. Best Chris

    7. Help needed again guys.... Feldartillerie-Regiment 501 Gefreiter d.R. Karl Helmke (1. Batr.) The document was signed on the 24 December 1917 by Hauptmann XXX, Abteilungs-Kommandeur Where would Boyo have been? Not attached to any division....?
    8. Ditto the 94th which seems only to join a division in 1918 (The 111. I.D.)

    13. Once again... see whats new... An iron cross award to a Saxony Foot artillery unit destroyed in 1918. Our man was one of the few who lived to fight another day....
