    1. Hmmmm... looking at the photo with him wearing a bar, that seems to be prewar with no anschluss... so this maybe points to this being a post anschluss bar, and could very well be wartime
    2. Hi, there was an Abschrift from the III Batl. Leib regt Tagesbefehl dated 9th of december announcing it. In his records on Ancestry he has the 17th as the award date. I assume it was approved the 5th, announced the 9th and the ceremony on the 17th?
    3. Hi, somewhere in the catalog it mentions that the consignor who had it bought the group from the son. Yup, I would have gotten the ring and Schörner's copy of the regt history for about EUR700 less than I paid for it on the auction, including fees. All because of my bloody spam folder..... From that lot I was mostly intereted in the Bavarian Award certificate and his 1920s drivers license ... but I don't think we can pinpoint when the bar was made...
    4. Maybe the award was handed over on the 17th of December? The Tagesbefehl confirming the award was the 9th of December
    5. I had been in contact with the seller before he delivered the items into the auktion, was going to buy the ring directly from him but unfortunately when he sent me the email confirming I could buy it it landed in my Spam folder. When I contacted him 6 weeks later they had already been delivered into the auction. From what I understand all the items were the items that had not been "souveniered" when he was captured. I suppose it is possible that he had a bar mounted after he was released from captivity, but I think we will never know.
    6. Hi, The page with the awards is a seperate sheet he filled out and signed in 1920, the Militärpass goes up to the end of 1915, but has the EK1, EK2, Bavarian MVO4th class with swords and the Austrian Militär Verdienstkreuz in it, unfortunately the PLM was not entered but officially the Militärpass was no longer filled out after he was promoted to LT d, Res.
    7. Hi, yes indeed... call me "lord of the Rings" ;-) The Officers one (Lion Head) belonged to Ferdinand Schörner, WW1 PLM winner and WW2 knights cross, Oakleaves, swords and diamonds.
    8. What has been done!!?!?! The three rings have been united..... I am now ruler of my universe! The Gollom of Leiberrings! (And yes, it has to do with militaria! :-) .... and I did not have to kill anyone!
    9. Check out how she handles the Tankgewehr at 18:25
    10. Hup.... I learn something new everyday. So a Feldwebel in a Komp could very well be a Zugführer and not Komp Feldwebel... that is nice to know, I thought Zugführer were almost always Vize Feldwebel.
    11. An overlooked problem with art collecting is finding the space to hang the paintings.... I have just finished the following.... and really enjoyed it... although a bit off topic, I think it was a very enjoyable read and the style of a number of your paintings remind me very much of the artists in the story. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7743117-sacr-bleu
    12. Apparently the Bavarians have a special ones for "Musikmeister", with different brocade colors. Must be super rare. A friend had one for the Musikmeister of the 2nd bavarian Jäger but it is unfortunately long gone.
    13. Aaaahhhh, Dave, you have reached Hero status in my eyes.... I would crawl 3 miles over broken glass for a jacket like that!
    14. Hi, I just picked up this black frog... unlike any I have seen before or have been able to find another example.... Can anyone confirm this is Bavarian? It is of course a private piece...
    15. Try this and you will never ned wirewool, wax or oil.... it removes ALL the loose stuff.... http://www.ebay.de/itm/48-ROLLEN-Toilettenpapier-EINHORN-3lagig-Klopapier-WC-Papier-Klo-mit-Zauberduft-/362030537323?hash=item544ab39a6b:g:fU4AAOSw3h1ZXjY9
