    1. Every now and then I fall into dusty corners of my hard drive and find pics of my old days WW2 collection.... sigh... Some uniforms.... From a 12ss HJ member...
    2. Posted this a few years ago but there was no clear opinion... It seems to be made of Kriegsmetal...
    3. anyone have any ideas? Thanks Chris
    4. Indeed... but there are also some really nice colorful ones. I saw a RIMA or RPIMA one done at Regimental level... it looked really nice. The soldier in me does not mind the bottle... the collector does ;-)
    5. That is a superb one indeed! What a pity it is in the wrong collection!! ;-) I more and more begin to think the CdG certificates are the greatest collecting field out there!
    6. Here are some statistics... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1600...=military+medal And a French miniature....
    7. Very nice indeed!!! I almost cried when I saw it ... and that I had missed it :-( I have a very rough conditioned MM document to a guy who got a number of CdG for recon missions...
    8. I think it may have been more a case of saying "Hmmmm... that looks good... I'll take it!" while walking at the fleamarket and looking in the display cases....
    9. I think the British medals were simply hung onto him (by himself). There is nothing that allows British stars to be awarded to a foreign serviceman. It probably went like this... "Hmmm, I was in Italy... think I will hang on an Italy star... hmm.. I have been in france, think I will hang on a France and Germany Star.... hmmmm... I was in Africa... lets buy that Africa star... hmmmm... I was in the air once... lets get that air crew Europe star...." He WAS at Narvik.... I wonder if he wore the Narvik shield and Africa cuff title... after all... he WAS there... And he was in the Legion from day one... when was he in the Belgian resistance? And the French resistance? During his vacation time he parachuted in to join them?
    10. From what I can see... he was in the foreign legion all throughout the war. I dont think he would have gotten any stars at all.... and why does he have half a dozen belgian resistence medals? And a chestfull of Polish underground? and half a dozen US service medals for WW2??
    11. Here is another link.... http://membres.lycos.fr/viriatorix/links7.htm
    12. Did this guy just hang every possible WW2 medal on? French, British, Polish etc. etc.... Or is he kosher :-) Et voici un l?gionnaire ("l'incr?vable" comme lui-m?me s'appelle) qui a particip? Bravo camarade! 13. Unfortunately, inspite of crazy bids on everything I only got the EO Coloniale doc and a 23rd BCP order. The above doc and the 1925 4eme REI medaille coloniale I missed :-(
    14. Hi, He was in the 4eme REI in 1925. On the 1.1.1940 he was commanding the 23rd bataliion de Chasseurs Alpins. In 1946 he got this document. Strangely he did not seem to have taken part in WW2 after Juin 1941?
    15. Hi, I may be wrong about the stamp. Bronze is there... the other thing is to the left of it...
    16. It has Bronze stamped on the rim with the stamp of the monnaie de paris (the corn) on the rim. best Chris
    17. Here is a close up... it appears to be hand finished, the edges rounded off and the whole thing is not flat with the head being the relief feature... the whole thing is slightly convex, front and back.
    18. Here in the middle is a very, very nice quality small medal. I assume privately made?
    19. A nice one indeed :-)))))
    20. From Ebay. Although I bid on all his stuff to try and keep it together, the competitions was just waaaaay to much. I got the doc above and a WW2 doc from another unit. Missed all his letters and Maroc 1925 document :-( Missed the photo as well...
