    1. That is nice!!! If you consider the CdG TOE and the Valeur Militaire to be more or less the same thing, he has 8 citations as well.
    2. Hi, My high bid was EUR260 so lost... I will regret it someday.... Not forgetting 1) This is THE elite unit of the war 2) It is only Battalion sized 3) Its an original Rohr signature I think I shoulda gone EUR50 more....
    3. Yup, some links to the man and his medals... http://www.kaiserscross.com/60401/141501.html http://www.kaiserscross.com/60401/134143.html http://www.kaiserscross.com/40056/139001.html More to come :-) Best Chris
    4. Nope, apparently the Saudi medal is finished and on its way .... I am eager to see the result :-)
    5. I think it is a pin back. His wife too drunk to sew the looks onto a new shirt and he just poked it through the pleat to avoid doing visible damage to the shirt. A week later there were probably loops on the shirt and the EK was on properly. I think he misjudged how much could be seen on a photo.
    6. Another one on the block.... http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...E:B:BCA:DE:1123 What will it bring??? A whoooooole lot methinks...
    7. Oh that Streicher is SUCH a rebel........ Anyone notice anything?
    8. Hi, the Brit Med forum guys dug out the awards of this level for this period... seems to be the short list of possibles....
    9. Hi Ed, I am guessing a German as it was found here. Maybe the German records.... but that would be a dead end i am afraid... :-(
    10. Just picked this up.... unfortunately just a date and no name... :-(
    11. Sigh.... this is getting boring... one after another ..... ;-) ?rd regt, this guys career at the front lasted just weeks. A wound at Souville, Verdun .... I know the ground well...
    12. Hi, it was buy it now for USD200. Another one with a WW1 victory, also buy it now,,,,, http://cgi.ebay.com/UDC-WW-1Cross-of-Milit...1QQcmdZViewItem
    13. Hallo, saw this interesting awards on Ebay. Was exactly is this group od women?
    14. Last step..... the Saudi medal.... Quality wise it is not bad... it is a symbol of medal making in the modern industrial age... not making them at the mint, but by a company that seems to specialize in key rings... I assume the problem I have with this, is not that is intrinsically cheap, but that it somehow LOOKS cheap, and ultra modern. I wait here with baited breath as on my recent tour to South East Asia I inquired about having one done in silver. Here in Europe that was waaay to expensive for my pocket, but in Singapore it was more affordable.... so I keep my eye on the postman...... Watch this space....
    15. I have reinforced the ribbon by adding some good quality ribbon to the inside, hopefully it will prtect it from the pointy bars... I understand the Kuwaitis were ripped of by some Italian firm when they ordered this, but surely they should have asked for some samples before giving the go ahead to start churning them out?
    16. Now, the "Kuwaiti insult"... Hard to do anything with this piece of cr3p. best would have been to have awarded nothing at all... ou know what they say..."If you cannot say something nice, say nothing at all...." Anyway, the damage is done, so I will include it on the bar, but not like it was awarded. Say all you like about "Well, they did not make it themselves...."... I dont care, before you want to award something, it seems only natural that you do a bit of quality control? (arguments about this in the relevant thread please, not here ;-) Sooooo.... what do we have.... a cheap antique silver finish, a sharp bar rthat cuts through the cheap paper thin ribbon... hmmmmmmm.... step one.... clean allll the gunk off, till we reach base metal. The thing is supposed to be silver right? So silver plate it and let it develop a patina. I thought of getting this cast in a better quality but the price was more than the medal was worth to me.
    17. Here is the second bar ready. On the left, the really ugly gilt of the medal has been improved with gold plating. the colour is exactly the same... but looks a tiny bit "better". somehow 5% less glitzy. Medal 2... nothing can be done to make this better :-( There seems to be 2 designs, both are terrible, I shall have to wait until a third and better verson is made. Medal 3, had a cheap "Antique bronze" varnish on it. Removed to allow the medal to develop its own Patina.
    18. Hi, there would be loops sewn onto the tunic (or backing cloth). A loop at each end, and one between each ribbon. The balls move freely or can be taken off the bar, sometimes worn without the two balls in the middle, just loops there.
    19. An unusual one and nice!! Most of the advisors I saw were a bit older, your guy here has the DN in Bronze... I assume this was an early 80s bar. best Chris
