AlexHi Alex, I had a massive photo archive but lost the whole thing. Literally thousands of pieces and I had images of everything and now it’s all gone!!

Almost forgot! When Rick Research looked into the group I had he said my guy was one of the pilots you saw zooming over the dunes as depicted in Lawrence of Arabia! Can still see his portrait in my mind with his EK, Pilot Badge and sporting a nifty moustache!! lol!

Good Morning and great item!! Only the second I’ve seen! Back in the day, I bought a group from Detlev to a pilot who fought in Palestine. Had the large folio award document for the TWM but he was an army pilot. Had his award documents for the EK2 and pilot badge as well. Unfortunately no images still. Nice find!! Congratulations!!

I agree, inconsistent with known original crosses and Meybauer never made them. I’ve seen precious few original 1870 EK1s. Even fewer 1813 ones, but I’ve seen and handled those as well.
i can only say that the quality, detail and character of the original crosses is superb. If it just blows your skirt up, it’s worth further investigation. I’ve only handled 1 original 1813 EK1 and 2 1813 EK2s. The visuals were amazing. One of the 1813 2.kl had its’ award document! The original recipient had affixed all his documents to linen. It was a complete set. 1813 EK2
1813 Combattant Campaign Medal
Long Service Medal
As I’ve stated in the past, I lost my entire photo archive so unfortunately, no images to share.

Good Morning Gentlemen, both excellent questions! I don’t have an answer to that beyond the details looked consistent with original, known pieces I have seen in the past. It’s always quite possible that I’m making a mistake but it looks legit from the pictures.
Meanwhile, in the US, this gem ran through US eBay and sold for a mere $524. You really have to sift through what’s out there but there’s still some beautiful pieces to be had! Both here and in Germany. Yes, cautious bidding and buying has become the order of the day. Personally, I wouldn’t touch anything Albert Order anymore and I’m starting to see some really good copies of the Saxon Merit Order, albeit the higher grades. I have not seen copies of the 1st or 2nd class crosses but I guess it’s just a question of time. Thankfully, the only St. Henry RK copies I’ve seen are easily distinguished from originals. But I’m also sure they will eventually come too.

Not my cup of tea and I profess to being clueless about this area of collecting. Thought it would make an interesting topic.
I really have to wonder about such a plethora of fakes in our hobby! It’s been relisted. Does anyone know if it’s actually real?

I understand about the crown now, pretty surprised I haven’t seen it before but I was away from the Forum for an extended period of time.
so, no logical explanation for the swords on that second bar I posted? Other than that issue, the bar looked legit to me?

Good Morning! I don’t think that’s a FAM ribbon, makes no sense to me that a Saxon enlisted award would be on this bar?

Good Morning! Now that’s a nifty little bow!!

Good Morning , I wonder if this is a byproduct of the manufacturing process, perhaps impurities in the enamel itself? I used to collect pre WW2 Lionel trains. They went through a period during the 1930’s where the process of manufacturing frames and wheels had impurities that caused the individual pieces to literally fall apart and disintegrate. Maybe that’s what’s happening here?
A real shame though that a piece so expensive and desirable would come apart!!
