    1. hello, many thanks for that, 165 quid is a bit too much for my slender resources, I am presuming the helmet I have would have a brass badges, as all the fittings are brass.     3. hello, I have a police picklehaube, complete except for the front badge, the helmet has chinscales, so I presume it should have the brass stamped badge, pictures on the webb of a complete one show chinscales and brass badge. thank you for looking. regards Pikestaff

Many thanks to 'tachel' due his prompting I have been trawling the web, came across an advert on ebay showing a repro bavarian police Pickelhaube, I think this wreck I have could very well be a police item, apart from the badge, looks like i will have to look around for a police badge to go with it once its in better shape. regards Pikestaff

    7. hello gentlemen, there's something wrong with this picklehaube, spiked, Bavarian chinscale mounts, Prussian rossette, other ranks stamped steel badge, chinscales joined by a small oval brass buckle. from the few books I have the helmet should have a horse hair plume with bavarian chinscale mounting points? also, with officers chinscales, should the fron badge be gilded brass? I bougth this items as a restoration project, but need to know whats what with it. Any help would be most greatfully received. many thanks Pikestaff
    8. The angled hull now being used on modern apc's, the South African arny used that style on 'Jasper's' thjirty years ago! Pikestaff
    9. The Abrams is one of the best tanks, no tank is all things to all men. the Chally has greater range as regards gunnery, does not spend so much time in the workshop, has just as good armour, and does not cost as much as an Abrams, not many 'challies' were 'lost' in Iraq. Pikestaff

    23. Hello Humberto, I paid ?6.00 for this pair several years ago, also I recently found out from the book 'army badges and insigia since 1945' by Guido Rosignoli, that these are west german, not East German as I had thought. rgds Pikestaff
