    1. Here is the tag from Gieves Ltd manufacturer, with a very faint date I think is 2.3.45 or 5.8.45 but it could be anything close to that, the first number is very blurred. Late war anyways. Any info on this maker?
    2. Hello gentlemen, I finally got some pics of my ww2 RCN Lt Commander Uniform from Mr. J.O. Aitkens. The jacket, pants and cap are all present in this set, with the pants and jacket with personalized tags intact. It has the 39-45 medal, CVSM, Italy Star, 39-45 Star, Defense Medal and a long service medal I believe ribbons attached to the uniform. I have tried to research but come up fairly emptyhanded, so if anyone can recommend a good site to research this gentleman that would be great. I think he was on the Assiniboine, but I am not sure. I got this from a local dealer who knew he was on one of the large "A" named Canadian Battleships or Destroyer. He kept his cap badge for personal heirlooms, but I was lucky enough to acquire this on VE day 2005. Any comments on this uniform and the Lieutanant Commander Aitkens that wore it are very welcome! Cheers, Pat
    3. and the back of he cap wreath..all for tonight so please leave any comments Pat
    4. Next is a standard Soviet Officer Cap Wreath, a nice conidition on the gold and the enamel.
    5. and the backs of the shoulder boards, with attachment devices for the mini insignias shown. Look authentic? Thanks, Pat
    6. Hello all, I would like to post a couple items (and more as they come) for discussion on this thread. First up I have a pair of loaded shoulder boards (one paratrooper, one tank) and was wondering if they "add up" or if the extra insiginas were just added afterwards to make it look more impressive. If this is an authentic combination of items, what are the little insignias? I think these are Polish, not quite sure, but definitely Eastern Bloc. Thanks, Pat
    7. Next up is another set of DDR shoulder boards, these ones for regular army I believe (again, please correct me if I am mistaken, as I am going off what the seller told me, got them dirt cheap!). If anyone can properly ID these and give some background it would be very appreciated. Pat
    8. Here is a set? of shoulder boards that I believe are East German, but I am not entirely sure. I believe these are field police shoulder boards in varying ranks. They are a thick material and made very well. Thanks for looking, Pat
    9. and the fronts of the DDR Air Force collar tabs pictured above. Very nice condition. Pat
    10. and the reverses of the collars, shoulder boards, and chevrons...
    11. Here is another set of collar tabs and chevrons, I believe they're DDR, or maybe repro TR items. THis is not my area of focus so any info on rank etc. is great. Thanks, Pat
    12. Here are some East German shoulder boards, one pair I believe is Panzer (pink) and the other Feldpolizei (green), but please correct me if I am wrong.
    13. Nice flags gentlemen. I was wondering if any of them were ww2 issue or earlier? The naval flags are especially nice and the finials are quite nice as well. Later, Pat
    14. here is the back, if this post belongs in the Soviet militaria section please move it, sorry! ANyways, here is the reverse in not so clean condition. ANy ideas? Thanks, Pat
    15. Hello gents, I have this Russian cap badge and I was told it was ww1 issue, I was wondering if anyone could show the differences between ww1 and ww2 Soviet cap insignias, and let me know if mine is indeed a ww1 issue. Thanks again, Pat
    16. and the reverses, any help on ID and and general comments are great. Thanks, Pat
    17. Here are a few more various Soviet pins and badges, I think most aren't very valuable, but the paratrooper badge with the "10" clasp on one side and "25" on the other may be of some interest. Any help on these items is very welcome. Thanks, Pat
    18. and the back of the Ehrenlegion, any help on the proper mounting is great! Thanks, Pat
    19. Thanks for the responses, I too have seen pics of the Prussian medal with the different clasps, nice pieces indeed! I just got my Ehrenlegion medal in the mail (thanks Tom Y) to match my ribbon bar that was missing the medal . My only question is now how was this mounted? I attached the medal via a small ring onto the holder in the ribbon bar device and it doesn't seem right. The sword on the ribbon is upside down, and when you fold the ribbon over to get it right, it covers the pin on the back. Any help on this is welcome. Here are some pics to show you what I mean. Pat
    20. and the reverses of the badges, with no maker marks as far as I can see. Feel free to comment on any items as I really don't know much about them. Later, Pat
    21. Next up is two Bundeswehr combat badges, one for Infantry and the other for some sort of Rocket, any help on ID is welcome. These are very light badges. Pat
    22. Here is a neat little pin for Soviet-German Friendship, with nice detail and enamel work. Pat
    23. Here are my East German GST badges. Nice stamped ones and the other is solid backed. Any comments on ID are welcome. Thanks, Pat
    24. finally, the reverse of the collar insignias, and please leave your comments on any of the ww2 Canadian cap badges pictured so far. Cheers from Canada, Pat
