    1. Thanks guys, I purchased it from a store with no refunds, and the other two items I picked up there were good, so I guess you just never know. Luckily, I only paid $40 Cdn (about 20 British pounds), so I guess it's just a high priced repro... P.S. I have had fairly good results (besides some TR badges and a few SS items being bogus) so it kind of eases the pain a little. If anyone would like to lend some opinions to my other items I recently posted mainly in TR General Awards and in the various TR equipment and insignia forums for the kriegsmarine, heer, and lufwaffe. All of the help I have received so far has been invaluable and I hope to contribute more to the site as my knowledge increases. I must say, i should go with my gut feelings from now on because most of my suspicions were true, so i guess that's a good sign to help with future purchases (not to mention posting new items for discussion before buying). Thanks again, Pat
    2. Is your Ludendorff head made of cast iron and magnetic? It appears to be a very similar item with the hollow back and all. Any idea if these are catalogued anywhere if they are valuable? Pat
    3. I think it is a copper based form of kriegsmetall, in other words, a mix. It's definitely not tombak or pure zink, as it is not very dark.. I am not the best at judging metals, so if anybody else has any ideas please help out. The pin appears to be copper based as well, but I am not 100% certain.
    4. I don't think there ws much filing, maybe a little in the finishing stage of constuction. It appears to be die-stamped or die-forged. How exactly can you tell if it has been filed, and what is the significance? Any help on this out there? Pat
    5. Thanks Michael, I picked up this Canadian ribbon bar and was wondering about th significance of the oak leaf on the war medal ribbon and the poppy on the red ribbon. Apparently this gentleman was a higher up in the Canadian Army and this is only one row of his ribbons. All info is welcome, Pat
    6. Here is another stickpin, a Hitler Youth HJ membership pin that I believe to be a modern copy. I hope I am wrong so if anyone has any thoughts on this pin it would be appreciated. It just seems a little too clean... Pat
    7. Next up, a simple crude swaztika stickpin. I think it is a period piece, but far from official. Any thoughts on this little number? Pat
    8. Hi all, Just thought I'd put a few of my stickpins up for discussion. I have a couple I am not sure of and a couple I think are good, so here we go. First up is a 1940 Stickpin that I think is for a sports organization, but not quite sure. It has lost most of its original finish but maintains the enamel swaztika in the center. Any ideas on the originality and purpose of this stickpin? Thanks, Pat
    9. Next up, my Luftschutz 2 class medal. It appears to me to be good, but I could be mistaken. Any ideas on this one? It is 38 mm in diameter.
    10. Here is a nice little 1914 ek2 ribbon bar to go with my ek2's. I am not sure what the other ribbon is though, any help is great. Pat
    11. Hello gents, I believe I have here an early SS dagger badge/pin with a very hard to read maker mark. Maybe you can figure it out. Does anybody else have one of these to compare? ANy ideas on originality and if it is an SA badge? I will post more SA badges here as I receive tehm. All responses are hugely appreciated with all my posts. Thanks, Pat
    12. Hello there, Picked up this die stamped SS-Heimwehr dog tag / id tag and was wondering if anybody knows about the SS-Heimwehr. I purchased this from a reputable dealer and I believe it is a good one, but any ideas on originality and the numbering/info on the markings are very welcome. Thanks, Pat
    13. and the back, in excellent condition. Were there many makers of these? Both of mine are unmarked. Pat
    14. Thanks War Lord, Here is my other Mothers Cross in gold, slight damage to the enamel work and no original ribbon. Again, I think this one is another good one but please let me know your ideas on it. Thanks, Pat
    15. Hello again, I purchased this shield last fall and it is my first shield. I was told all three prong Kuban shields were fakes, is this true? Mine is made of copper, stamped, with a funny eagle on the top. It is 53mm x 63mm. Any ideas on its originality? Thanks, Pat
    16. and the back of the eagle. The pin appears to be a TR era pin as it is similar to many tinnie pins. Any help is welcome. Pat
    17. Hi all, I have here a Luftwaffe metal insignia of some sort, and I was wondering about its originality. It is 72 mm wingspan and appears to be either a chest eagle or an award of some kind. You don't see many of these around and I would like to know more about it. Is it an original piece or a fantasy piece? All info is great, Thanks, Pat
