It is very disturbing Many collectors, who are not aware will depart with their money. Also it is not good for the collecting world
The problem is that many of those fakes finish being sold through Dealers and Auction houses

Little information about his career and photos
Bertil Wiklander (1909-1994) was musical director at Kungliga Svea flygflottiljs musikkår and later military musical inspector. In the opening ceremony of the equestrian events of the 1956 Olympics held in Stockholm, he led the music choirs of Västmanland, Svea and Södermanlands Kungliga flygflottiljer.
In 1958, six years after Sweden got its first military musical inspector Ille Gustafsson, Wiklander took the position, where he remained for at least eleven years. The highest position attainable in militärmusiken. He reached the rank of överstelöjtnant. In 1951 he composed ''åttonde flygflottiljen''

Some information…
”The slip says that it was produced by the MytishchinskySouvenir Factory (Mytishchinsky is a district in Moscow). There's another word in the name that I'm blanking on;the name of the modern successor factory adds "Souvenir and Jewelry." It's a set of badge of the flags and seals of the republics of the USSR.”
That is correct Thanks

Not wishing to undermine the honour bestowed upon these individuals, but I wonder whether the obviously very large stock held, of these EIIR headed medals, had any bearing upon the decision to make these awards.
A good opportunity to get rid of the stock, which presumably would otherwise be "binned".
Keep an eye on the auction sites!
Dave.

As an update after the coronation of Charles III, Gold Staff Officers were spotted in the parade. It appears as if Charles' baton is similar to his mother's, with a gold staff and light blue ends. The image here is from Wikipedia. Lt-Col. Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah, MVO, of the Household Cavalry.
Good to know that this tradition endures.
Nice

Hi Tony,
till you get good reference book/s you can rely on the forums That is the reason of them to share knowledge and experience
Once I joined the GMIC I felt part of society Otherwise it is a lonely experience Most of the advanced collectors have had Mentors to give them directions
Cheers

The difference in these decorations are the result of the many different manufacturers that made them. Each one made their own molds and thus the differences. Over the years molds are worn out and needed to be replaced, so even from the same munufacturer they can show some differences. It also happened that one manufacturer bought the other one and got a hold on their molds so that two different manufacturers can have the same design. (Still following? 😛)
Common manufacturers are/were: Wolfers, P. Degreef, Mauquoy, Fisch, Fonson, Walravens ... and many others. The earlier ones were made by jewelers like J.G. Dutalis, Allard, C.J. Buls, J. Heremans, etc. Some of them are easy to recognize by their design.
If you like these differences the work of Antti Ruokones, who's mentioned a few post back, is a must. He compares many makers and their differences in design. It's probably not 100% accurate (as it's nearly impossible) but it's the best attempt to list the differences and linking them to a manufacturer that I've seen this far.
Not necessarily, the way they are stored has a big influence on how they aged. If they are always kept in the box, locked in a drawer and never came in contact with the sun, they will look far better than one that is mounted in a frame that hangs on a wall and comes in direct contact with light. Also is the medal worn a lot or not? Is it cleaned in the past or not? ... (Sun)light and rubbing are a medal's worst nightmare.
Good points
