The closest I've found is this Canadian civil defense illustration. Did it mirror the WW2 Brtish Army regs?

I find it odd that none of the Osprey WW1 or WW2 references include the measures for these, nor does the Brassey's WW1 British uniform book. I haven't seen yet the newer Campaign photo reference books.

...and is it correct to say that in the field, many units wore none for security reasons?

I'm sorry if this has been answered before; I couldn't find it. I understand the regimental patch was worn as near as possible to the shoulder seam; I also believe I read the downward tip of chevron rank stripes were about 9" below the shoulder seam, centered in the sleeve. Were the additional division and arm of service patches just evenly spaced between?

VtwinVince: Thank you. My project for this year is to reproduce his 1912 full dress uniform, with helmet, tunic, aiguillette, epaulettes and baton. This will likely take most of the year. I hope to post what I have. by fall.

OK, finally done. Had to use 'ringers', i.e. other medals with similar obverse for the #6 and #14 place medals. Will switch out if I ever find better.

Does anyone know of a source for miniature Imperial German ribbons? I have long searched for the miniature size ribbon for the Prussian 1866 Koeniggratz medal (and others) I have had the suggestion to buy the lapel ribbons often listed on German ebay but I would hate to cannibalize one just for that ribbon.

Well, sadly, no one has regs for the width of these ribbon bars so I went with 4.5cm. Here is my effort, below. I will be making the medal bar but it will be a long slog because several of the gongs are not reproduced and are scarce as originals. We'll see.

What were the bandeau for these shakos? Were they always the same or different for various battalions?

Were there regulations for this? I know, he's the king so he can do what he wants, but there may have been regs.

OK, Now, thanks to the help of contributors we know what medals/ribbons were on Ludwig III's impressive medal bar. He wore a plain ribbon bar with his field gray Bavarian Field Marshal uniform. What is the height (up and down) measure for the bar? Looks to me like 4.5 or even 5 centimeters. Does anyone know? He also wore a narrower bar, probably 2.0 cm. (last picture). I am interested in the taller bar.

The Suvorov is the 1st Class ribbon, which is very difficult to find. any help is appreciated.

I assume this is the proper forum to ask this: Does anyone have a source for the ribbon for the WW2 Order of Suvorov 1st Class? I have looked online and found the 2nd and 3rd class ribbons but not the higher class. I assume it's out there somewhere but not in the usual places. Any help locating a length of it is appreciated.

I noted, on the top row, the Second World War campaign ribbon now inserted between the WW1 Victory Medal ribbon and the 1911 George V coronation ribbon.

Lukasz: Thank you! Very nice photo! ...I did just today receive that Luitpold jubilee replica from a German vendor. I have used it before and it's a nice copy.

Lukasz and Dan, thank you very much. I believe this is enough to recreate the ribbon and medal bars for Ludwig. III. The difficulty with the medal bar recreation will be several of the obscure ones that are not commonly found as originals and never as copies, e.g., The Bavarian 1910 Agricultural Jubilee, the Wurttemberg Karl 25 year Jubilee medal and the Austrian 1908 Jubilee medal for foreigners. This will be a very long term (and perhaps expensive) project.

Can someone provide a photo and perhaps different name for the #14 medal? My searches only yield the 1908 Signum Memoriae medal.
