    1. Well, now they flew away from Ukraine - didn't know that kites are migratory birds
    2. In conclusion I'd say that there are some that are multipart constructions and others are stamped as one piece.
    3. But this one on the other hand has no connection to the frame and the rays on the top are very distinct. The crown looks really like another piece that was soldered to the base. Also the strings seem more massive. These could probably be cut out without braking off.
    4. Ah, but I don't think that this is all to it. Look again The bottom strings are connected to the frame circle. the rays on the top are very flat. I think this one is indeed stamped as a whole piece.
    5. Not only the soldering. Those incredibly delicate strings on the bottom of the crown must be cutouts, then.
    6. Nick, today I read on a Russian forum (http://sammler.ru/index.php?showtopic=137092&st=40) that your gorgeous 3rd class kites (posts #58-59) are "from a collection of a well-known collector from Ukraine" ("...из собрания известного коллекционера с Украины"). I was under the impression that you are a Muscovite
    7. Seems reasonable and should be easy to confirm. Maybe you should inspect your lower classes again I have no crowns so I'm out.
    8. http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u60878831 This curiosity is still floating around. Nick, did you came up with a possible explanation in the meantime?
    9. Ok, right but if the 1906 added set features the same characteristics as the 1916 set it's practically not possible to differentiate between late Meiji and Taisho?
    10. What was the selling price?
    11. Ah, finally! Thank you so much, Nick. A real beauty. And such a nice condition Extraordinary enamelwork - the red enamel in the center of the flowers. Interesting to see the dark spots in the orange enamel - with that even I could tell that this one is from Meiji Do you have some close ups of later periods for comparison? And of course a document, please
    12. Oh, Yes!
    13. Is it what I hope it is?
    14. The rosette... Hm, really a lot of kites currently for sale - 1x breast star 3x neck badge and all those lower classes
    15. Seems that I missed this thread... Yes both bad fakes
    16. I just saw that the next Thies action will have a collar for sale, if you want one
    17. Ah I see. Looking at the Manchukuo pictures thread I have to agree with you absolutely. (Manchukuo helps the dating to 30-eraly 40s). Everyone with a 4th or even 5th class has at least the Showa enthronement.
    18. Could you be a little more specific?
    19. Well, let's wait four days. Nick, what do you think of this? http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/n123807134 Same modern replacement?
    20. Man I hate that site. I'm looking every day for like two month and nothing. But when I take a break for one week things like that pop up. Thanks for pointing it out, Nick. By later replacement you mean taisho or showa but still in the period of awarding, right? Or modern day replacement?
    21. Is it the combination?
    22. or to use this one:
    23. That's what I thought, too.
    24. Neck badge unsold but the breast star sold for 9K. And the last one on ebay went for 4.8 ....
