    11. Lt. Gen Pavel Anatolyevich Sudoplatov Some more background info courtesy of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoplatov
    12. Thanks UB - WHhat is the "Andrew" link please? I could find nothing on that..... Did you mean "Victor" perhaps?
    13. I would suggest Pavel Sudoplatov, a Russian spymaster, who was involved in the assasinations of Leon Trotsky and Yevhen Konovalets. Seems to tick the right boxes in terms of the hints that you gave...joined Cheka at the age of 14, served 15 years in prison and reached the rank of Lt General. Had my eye on him already with the big opponents hint as Trotsky did come to mind....however I cannot make the Andrew connection.

    15. I have asked Hauptmann to set some other clues without getting into the question of "Jewish" being a nationality as well as a religion. We've discussed this once and I do not want us to get into that again. Not here please! Lets wait for some more hints from Hauptmann and then we'll attack the question by finding the answer. This promises to be interesting! Jim
    16. Hi Claret Baron, Lovely Order. Am I however correct that this is Northern Korean? As this is the Soviet USSR section, it may be better appreciated in more relevant sections. Regards, Jim

    19. Hi well done UB, Try to curtail the replies to one post when its a multipart quesion - unless you are adding additional background info, sometimes, other members may reply at the same time and that could cause problems as to who gave the first correct reply! But very good. Your answer is indeed correct. The subordiante was Vladimir Putin whom he calls a "war criminal" as a result of actions in the Chechniya conflict. I am considering this as part of the answer as you posted the wiki link where it says this. The point is yours, as is the next question. Well done. Jim
    20. The Soviet Quiz - Onto the next 25......and heading towards question 100!!!

    21. Question 75: Born to an NKVD officer, I lived much of my life overseas. I reached the higher ranks of my outfit, making history with my rank as I did so. I fell out of favour and lost my postion, only to have it returned to me within a year. I even made it to the Supreme Soviet. I was tried, on demand of my subordinate, and was sentenced to imprisonment. I however remain free in the West. Who am I? What was my unit? What about my rank made history? Why did I fall out of favour and who removed and re-instated me? Why was I sentenced to imprisonment? Where do I live? What terms did I use to describe my subordinate? Tell us the story of our person....And enjoy the hunt..... Jim
