    1. Don't think so....there is some MGs, Chris's style (deactivated), new on Collectors Guild. I got an advance warning so they might not be on the website yet.
    2. Interesting.....for sure, the war tore up everyone's economy and eventually ended up as the Great Depression, from the Great War to the Great Depression which one came out of it more strong than the others....Germany.
    3. I think the term "Greatest Generation" applied to WWII vets, because WWII was really a World War whereas WWI was mostly in Europe. Although it did spread throughout Europe, so did WWII and beyond to the Pacific and Asia. Japan, Germany and Italy had invaded country after country and they were all pushed back and forced to surrender. So much for Imperialism, Nazism and Fascism..............I think what the sons of WWI vets achieved in WWII, made the fathers feel proud, as much as I became the first born of the same generation. Question, do you think the same could be accomplished today? With all the techno, yes, without it, no....IMO.
    4. I talked once over lunch on the Isle of Rosay with an old WWI Sutherland Highlander. He had some stories and one I remember very well, back then, many Scots lads in Highland regiments only knew and spoke Gallic. He hadn't been exposed that much with Gallic and no german at all growing up. When he arrived on the front lines with others in the same group, after the first time they fired on a returning patrol speaking Gallic, they found out real quick which language was which. Unfortunately he died before I could visit with him again.

    6. .Hiya Chris......on page 165 in the book, Imperial German Military Markings by Jeff Noll, he gives the listing of Gerbirgs-Machinengewehr-Abteilung and Gerbirgs MG Abt 209 was part of the 200 J.D. Alpinecorps. Abt 201-210 and Abt 239 and 242 were part of the Alpinecorps while the Abt 228 and 229 were part of the Ostsee Div. Ed
    7. Manions were selling these for $500.00 back in the 90s until authorities came down hard on them.
    8. Why is the ribbon with a pin attachment and the case surely shows two pin holes for a double pin ribbon?
    9. His guilt was shown in the movie very clearly. One can read where so many sons of upper class/aristocrats went to their deaths with family history and pressure from their ancestors acts of glory. It's always the young men, older men have had time to understand but they still go too.
    10. trying to find the exact german units who opposed the 308th Inf Bn in the Argonne Forest. I know the german units that were part of the German Fifth Army that had that line but I can't seem to find the units opposite the Lost Bn. A Hessian unit, 354th was mentioned in the movie but in my reference books it doesn't reference them during 1918. Goes from 1917-1919. Thanks Ed
    11. I watched it tonight, hadn't seen it. Good movie about true incidents. I'm now watching the Lost Battalion, seen it a few times, I think it's pretty good too for factual incidents.
    12. My Signal Abteilung photo arrived today. I believe it has put the Coup de Grace on the Signal display. Although I wouldn't pass up an ear phone set for the pouch, if anyone knows of one. Thanks
    13. Chris....any of theses commanders look familiar? Schubert or Schobert Kohler Ghirschberger Wicenter I have a silver mug and the dedication engraved is for the M.G.K.1.bayr.Jnf.Rgt. 1914-1916 with signatures of those four men. I guess they would have been commanders. Ed
    14. Gotcha!!!! This is a photo of the Signal Abteilung of the Kgl. Bayerisches Infanterie-Leib-Regiment, Kgl. Bayerische Jäger-Brigade 1, Alpine Korps.
    15. Greetings!!!!! Would the color, blue, for a Trains officer be the same for all Trains units? Supply Trains, Munitions Trains, Sanitates Trains; etc? Thanks................ Ed
