Hello all,

here is a medal that belonged to my wife's grand parents.

What I would like to know is the when it was distributed and what where the criteria to get one.

The date 1909 and the ribbon do confuse me a bit; does it have anything to do with Congo Free State?

And some more Belgian pith helmets!

The right one was ment for Belgian fusseliers...something I just  learned never knew we had them......

Just made a wunderfull aquisition thanks to a member of a other forum, who pointed it out.

Here is a 1886 mod. helmet (named "sugarloaf" by the French!)of the  Congo Free State that lasted from 1885 to 1908.

It was very high on my list of "holy grales".Never tought I would manage to get one.

I only know two of them in private collections, never know one on the market.

I am using the salers pics because they are good and I haven't get it yet........

It came in with some additional finds!

I do know James Ensor by my general knowledge, but not that ain't enough to value/recognize his work.

That is why I said "real or not"......

The wear of the chinstrap does not accord with the general state of the shako and the helmet plate sits in a strange way.

Defenetly need more pic's.

not familiar with Ensor's work......

I opened the frame and took the drawning out.

It seems to have been drawed on a sheet that was part of a booklet, other drawnings on the next page left smears  on the back of the one I have.

To me the shades where left due to a earlyer framing, wich must have been divided into different compartments. 

Just has it is with this framed medals.

The Hamburg America Lines silver plated stuff are generaly the most expensive one's, mostly sold on militarias sites, for Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler silverware because of the LAH cypher marking  they usualy carry.

But a late war, fibre, 2 to 4 th garde regiment zu fuss.

Finally found one! The best one I have got for the momment!

Measuring 28/94 cm.

I recently baught this one, hope to get it next week or so....

A funny thing to do! The idea came from a other forum, but I like it.

Just showing memorabilia that must have been each other conterpart during the war.

I am starting with daggers, not knowing to well where to put other themes.

Here two air force daggers; Germany Fliegerdolch M1935 and France mod '34.

it isn't the Rosenthal quality, but nice never the less. Price is more or less ok, but you need to add the 9% costs for the auctioneer and the parcel cost, without knowing if it will be well packed and arrive safely....
