Hey Mervyn,
I liked your remark regarding the French and English globes!!
I have a stand left some where, that is the reason I bought it, but honestly, I did know about the damage on the south pole, they didn't mentioned it!
We will see!

hey Mervin,
glad you like it!
I doubt the pastoral scene would be Dutch when seeing the mountain/ hill in the back. Holland is rather flat.
I also doubt the figures are original to the scene! Some old restoration with a different paint shows also. I think the figures were ad, maybe by someone else.
The reason it was included in the lot is a mystery, but I am glad they did!
Yes, the second one is what it was about to me.
I do have a small collection of old travel company's.
The stern flag is English indeed, for the company flag I was thinking of Waverly's company, but that doesn't match with the colors on the chimney. The Indo-China Steam Navigation Compagny, makes more sense, But then again there seem to be a figure in the center of the company pennant...
Both came from a auction in the middle of France, but that doesn't give much clue's about their origins.

Hey spasm,
no signatures (so far!), or details from the auction house.
They are genuine old paintings, yes.
Working on the identification of the ship for the moment.
cheers

from the same place as the globes, I got these two paintings.
In fact only one was mentioned and showed in the catalog, the other one came with the same lot, but was not photographed.
But I do like it even more then the marine.

....... I've never quite understood the interest - they take-up so much space.

Don't know if I showed it all ready!?
Forgive me if I did.
But here is a link to a virtual friend of mine.
Most of the parts you get to see on the first pic come from me.

Hey Werner,
thanks for the reply!
What important to me is that it is a genuine medal with his clasp, meaning; not a upgraded example.
Hard to know when seeing one, but this one was found in a house clearing, so that makes it ok to me.

Hey Dave, thanks again!
I did indeed saw a (what I think to be.......!) French one sold for 500€ during my research.
Well I 'll see what I do when I get there, it will also depend on what the other medals look like the guy is selling, and the money left in the wallet!!

Not such a exceptional medal, just fun to collect them.
There are like more then 30 different clasps, here is my first; the German campaign.

hello,
I was offered a small collection of medals, just don't know anything about them.
This medal is one of the lot
I only got this one pic.
It looks rather cheaply made to me!?
Any opinions are welcome.

Not in it too!
But your themes seems interesting!
Would love to see them.

Just got myself this little beauty...
One thing though. The only other I've seen hanging from a ribbon had the ribbon of the Military Decoration for Exceptional Service or Acts of Courage or Devotion. Is that the proper ribbon for it? Is there a proper ribbon for it?

Love old tin can's and boxes as well.
Fascinating theme as well, that often leads to one or the other military related subject.
Here is what i got in today;
