    1. Thank you, Rick. Obviously a well deserved Red Star. Its indeed a wonder, that he wasn?t wounded.
    2. Thanks, Auke. Two very nice examples. To your second piece, according to Mondvor the first LMD-pieces were issued in the second half of 1944, so they have to have been produced before Mid 1944. Thats all, i can say.
    3. Very nice examples, Auke, especially the early one. I think, the second one is not a KMD-piece, but a LMD "concave reverse" (T2 V4.2 on soviet-screwbacks) I am not worried showing the s/n of my orders. Should there indeed be someone, who this belongs to (awardee, stolen...etc.), i will be happy to return it. Andrei, you can send all your "cheap stuff" to me
    4. and the Order. Technically not the awarded piece, but if he requested a Duplicate, it obviously meant something to him. Its the type with stamped serialnumber and cyrillic "D" stamp. Its in great condition with a lovely patina. Enjoy!
    5. Reverse of the Award Record Card His awards: Medal for Bravery Nr. 1.238.156 awarded on 20.03.1944 Order of the Red Star Nr. 1.781.725 awarded on 23.05.1945 Medal for Victory over Germany Medal for Victory over Japan
    6. Hello gentlemen, here is an Order of the Red Star Duplicate, which was shown elsewhere on this forum. Here is the research for the piece now. I am lost with the translation, as its handwritten. Award Card Obverse:
    7. Thank you, Ed. Thats, what i suspect too. Thanks again to all, who commented. best regards Gerd
    8. THANK YOU!!! Thats fantastic, i am a happy camper How long have i been waiting... Its most interesting to see the Red Star of Colonel Vozhachenko in this connection. I assume, they all were assigned to the Afhan Army, i.e. Afhan Uniforms, Ranks...? Or were they there as Soviet Officers attached to Afghan Units? Still don?t get it Thanks so much, Rick. It couldn?t have been better. Gerd PS: Dave probably wants to kill me The first late Red Star, i requested research for...
    9. Thanks, Ron. Very nice ORB, only a few thousand numbers away from the screwback-types. That Red Banner looks like a later variation (T3V2?) in my opinion, but that could be the picture. If i may ask for an additional picture, could you post a closeup of the serialnumber and the mint mark? Thanks again all the best, Gerd
    10. Thank you! I am working on it, Ed. Its good enough to get a general overview, but its the details, which make this research interesting.
    11. and the beautiful piece, which was awarded to our Comrade: Thanks for looking, gents. I hope, someone can give a good overview of the citation, as its obviously most interesting.
    12. Gentlemen, it looks like i have finally an Afghanistan award. Its actually the first late ORS, i ordered research for and i hope, its a winner. It certainly looks like, even with my limited translation skills. Order of the Red Star, awarded on 23.11.1981 to Lieutenant-Colonel Sergei Alekseyevich An******* (?), Russian, born 1938 Career: Lieutenant 27.08.1958 Starshiy Lieutenant 13.12.1961 Captain 08.06.1967 Major 05.06.1973 Lieutenant-Colonel 12.12.1977 I don?t want to embarras myself by posting my own translation, so if anyone likes to give an overview, its much appreciated. Here is the award card, obverse:
    13. Congrats, Ron. Even if incomplete, this is a fantastic group to an HSU. You can be very proud. Would you mind posting good pictures of the Red Banner for me? That would be great. regards, Gerd
    14. I am fascinated by the Red Army as an Army, which developed from very bad to unbeatable under an immense pressure during the GPW. I am not as old as Mr. Methusalem Research , but i am also a child of the cold war, even if i only saw the last years of it, i still remember it very well. And beside the beauty of soviet orders and medals another reason, why i collect them, are of course the research-possibilities.
