...that would be the follow up... ...I guess this thread is now an "are these fakes?" thread... I'm more concerned about the "swords" piece than the other. It does look like a rough casting. What's your opinion on this?
Thanks for the head's up. I've been seeing those around. This one came from a reputable source, but anything's possible. I seem to remember posting these as a separate topic? Now, my planned follow up won't make sense, as part of someone else's thread.
What is the coat-of-arms at the top of the print on the back of the photograph? Also, what is "Herz. Sachs?" Could the photographer have been from one of the states, with a Berlin office? Maybe a clue.
Experts indeed. "...the medal was designed by Mr. Lee Lawrie, a civilian sculptor from Easton, Maryland. The model was approved by the Commission of Fine Arts on May 5, 1942."
