EK 1914 Why so few EK doc collectors?
Steve campbell replied to Chris Boonzaier's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
The colors on this one are still pretty good. That's what attracted me to it. The stamp reads Konigl Preuss 48 reserve division. The date of action appears to be May22, 1915, but looks like it was signed on April 22, 1916. -
EK 1914 Why so few EK doc collectors?

I don't see alot of nice ones for sale. You guys might be able to dig them up over in Europe but hre it's not so easy. The only real nice one I saw i bought. I think it looks great too. It also came with 2 of the ID books for the soldier. A great deal. Here it is. The variety of these is what makes them so unique. -
Unknown Krupp Field Gun
Steve campbell replied to Steve campbell's topic in Armour, Vehicles, Ships & Aircraft
Yes. there should be a piece or tail at the end of the gun. Wonder what happened to the other 3 of them. -
Thanks Chris. I would consider it but a friend gave it to me and he had it for almost 30 years. Any item that was a gift from a friend I keep. I may start to make a little side collection myself. Thanks for the information. I posted on another forum and 2 other people have also said that's what this was. Appreciate the information. If you know anything about artillery pieces check this out. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=13976

This piece has been sitting in a park near my home since as long as I can remember. The plaque explains it was captured and brought back here to Newfoundland after the First World War. It is now painted a diffrent color than it used to be. The breech is stamped Frederick Krupp, Essen 1917. I know it's German from this alone. I looked up some information years ago and it seemed to fit the description of a fairly rare artillery piece. Does anyone know what type of piece this is?

A friend gave me this today. I'm pretty sure it's a bayonet from a Lee Enfield or a British rifle, probably from WW2. The blade is 12 inches long. The blade is stamped "Wilkinson" at the hilt. The picture isn't great but I feel this is an easy one to identify. The handle is wood with brass fittings. There are no other markings on the blade. Am I right on my ID of this bayonet? Thanks, Steve

Steve campbell replied to Steve campbell's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. Took alot of work to post them really, taking the pics, sorting out the best ones resizing and posting but I enjoy it. Hopefully someone can benefit from it, as I enjoy seeing differnt pieces posted. It would be nice if I could get a few answers to some of my questions that I have posted here. Cheers, Steve -
EK 1914 Collection of EK2's

Here's a view from the top. Is it one piece? Like I said it's lighter than a regular EK2. Thanks for looking. I appreciate any help or comments on the crosses I have listed. Steve -

EK 1914 Collection of EK2's

Here's the last one from my collection. It is an example I'm not quite sure about. It came on a 2 piece medal bar and is unmarked. This piece is lighter than my other EK2's but is magnetic. I almost feel it is a one piece construction, but can't be sure. There's just something different about it. I wonder if it's good? -

EK 1914 Collection of EK2's

This cross came in a grouping said to belong to one soldier. It appears to be marked Y on the ring. This picture is not great but this cross looks really good in hand. Amazing how these photos show all the blemishes. You can't see any of that on this piece with the naked eye. -
Some really quality pieces there.

Looks like you still have some nice pieces.

The rear of the cross with no ring. Core detail is actually pretty good on this one. Too bad it's kind of beat up. -

I picked this one up with some other medals for next to nothing. It's in rough shape but when I saw it I decided to give the poor thing a home. The frame is seperating and there is no ribbon ring. They can't all be mint I guess. I wonder about the maker.
