Gday Paul, I have some information somewhere in the chaos of my desk about it, but i'll have to rely on memory. If i'm wrong i apologise! It was awarded to troops who took part in the assault on the Duppel Redoubt on 18 April 1864, so it was more like a campaign or battle award. The official award version was struck in white bronze, and (this is really pushing the brain!!) there were just over 31,000 awarded. I remember an exact figure was given on another forum, but just can't quite remember it! If anyone has anyhting to add to this, please do!! cheers Jason
