    1. To celebrate their 40th anniversary,  the Austrian Albert Schweitzer Society - Österreichische Albert Schweitzer Gesellschaft (ÖASG) have issued this rather attractive and tasteful medal. All ÖASG medals and decorations are recognised by the Austrian Government and as such may be worn on State military uniforms etc.

Further details are available here: oeasg.office@gmail.com

Hi all, my name is Kevin and I am a Vietnam vet having served with the 101st Airborne Division. My collection is very eclectic. I am wondering if anyone can help me research a medal trio to a J Prince? Medals are a 1939/45 Star, zDefense Medal, and a 1939/45 Medal. Number on War medal is 19853.

Thanks and look forward to participating in group.

      Hi Kevin and welcome.

If the Defence & War Medal are struck in silver, then I would say the recipient is Canadian. If, however, the (named? &) numbered 1939-45 Medal is made of cupro-nickel, the recipient could be an Australian, South African (or even Indian).

      See here:

Hope this helps narrow your search.

      Great pictures.

Here's another Pilot Badge recipient, again in Göttingen

Göttingen. That's my home town!  The military part of the Stadtfriedhof  is quite an eye opener. I believe that the headstones are original and that they were later modified to remove anything contentious.

What do people think of the odds of NATO and the other allied nations striking a medal for Operation INTERFLEX? Would it be a NATO medal? Or a new medal?

I can't see anything coming from NATO as it's not involved. Many NATO member states yes but the Organisation itself not.

After a year of hard campaigning, my COVID-19 medal proposal for the Irish Defence Forces got officially axed today. I'm gutted but I fought the good fight on it up to the highest echelons of politics and military bureaucracy.

Shame. What, if any, were the reasons given?

I tried contacting them twice and both times got unintelligible gibberish back. Of course, I recognise not everyone speaks English, but I would've been better off being replied to in Japanese and using Google Translate!
