Well she's still got to list the remaining 3 awards from the original group. I wonder what price she'll be looking at receiving for those? If she gets anywhere near her "Buy it Now" prices .... then I'll be selling off my Saxon bars for sure, then I'd live in luxury well into my very old age Mike

She's getting all bitchy now. Have you seen her latest additions to the comments. I have sent a message explaining that eBay frowns on private offers being made. Better that she lists the group as one and it will find it's price that way. Mike

I've sent the seller a message pointing out the error of his ways and suggesting that he relists the complete group. May I ask all of you to do the same in a polite way. We may yet be able to get him to change his mind on this. Cheers, Mike

Pete, Yes you could say that I'm more than happy with my purchase. Being a local Auction House I guess there weren't many military collectors there. My good luck I guess. Mervyn, I had that gut feeling about these so bought on impulse. What pee's me off more was that there was a mixed bag of items in an old hat box. This lot included what was listed as "costume jewellery" ... however on looking into it, all was not as stated. In there was, amongst other things, two ZULU Hanging Necklaces along with various other items of jewellery and interesting items. I was prodded in the side by the other half when I bid up to £50 and told no more. I'm now kicking myself for not going the full length with this lot. The two necklaces were definately palm leaf stringing and looked exactly like the one you posted on the Zulu thread the other day. I could throttle the other half now. Mike

Chris, All are OK under blacklight scan. Even the backing behind the badges doesn't shine out. The back of the frame has very old paper covering, so I guess from the period. I haven't seen many of the RAF Signals wings before or the original ASR arm badges. So for £30 the lot, I'm more than happy. Mike

I attended a local auction today and picked up this framed group of WWII Flight Wings. All seem to be original to the period and are from RAF, RAAF and RCAF. Your oppinions would be gratefully appreciated as I'm not that conversant on this period. However I thought that they were a nice collection of period wings and would look nice on my wall.

Mervyn, thanks for your reply to my posts. The first one, #23 may have been a bit misleading. I think this could have only been an ankle or arm bracelet. I have two of them, matching. the are approx 4.5 inches deep and when uncurled are approx 9 inches long. They have loops of fibre on one side at the end and double beads the other side, I presume to slip into the loops to keep them around the arm/leg. At one time there was a Knobkerrie that came with the collection, however it was lost years ago in a house move. I have since found out that from my older sister that in fact our Aunt was in Natal before the Boar War from about 1886 to the late 1890's and returned to England just before the start of the war. Mervyn, I have some bead bracelet's and ankle bracelets that were brought back to the UK by my Great great aunt from the Natal area in about 1900. I'll try and scan them. I hope that you may be able to give me some background information on them. I was told by my Grandfather that they were "Zulu" I'll post pictures tomorrow. Mike

Darrell, A very nice collection of QSA/KSA medals and bars. Luckily you have the bars that were awarded to the Regiment I collect, otherwise I'd be wondering if I was bidding against you for them. I have noticed that all of your medals are in a very clean shiny state and I was interested to know if you received them in this state or if you cleaned and polished them once you had them? I think Ed has hit the nail on the head. In the closer view from the site, those do seem to be the medals. Strange order of wearing them though?? Fantastic photo. Would be interested in finding out more about this guy. Mike

How right you are Robin, muppetry is the exact description I would use. But I think they have given OUR heratige away already. Thats why we have European workers taking OUR jobs from us and Briitan has no HOME produced manufacturing left to talk about. All foriegn owned companes here now. Mike
