    1. Hi James, I think the scanner is playing havoc with the bronze colors. If you look at the reverse, the zinc is more apparent around the raised rims of the wreath. Both badges are zinc. As I mentioned earlier, I can provide weights and measurements, if that prooves anything, one way or the other. Regards, Mark
    2. Gentlemen, I was digging through the past and found this one. It concluded with my post of two APBs in my possession. Can the jury step in, and pass a verdict? Thanks, and regards, Mark What should the weight and measurements be? The same as the badge in the above thread?
    3. Hi Rich, I have been waiting and watching, with disappointment. I will try to post some weights and dimensions tonight or tomorrow. I guess most people are intersted in J2s or Ground Assault Badges. Nothing wrong with that, but eventually, many collectors develop an interest in Spanges. Regards, Mark
    4. 1) Is it logical to assume that, as with most all other cast reproductions, the finished size (significantly smaller) would be an indicator of a fake? 2) What should the measurments of a front Flight Clasp be? Width and Height, to start with? Mark
    5. Hi Rich, Well, you and I would both like to find out about these 'concentric rings'. I hope someone 'out there' can provide input about this topic. Mark
    6. Rich, Your recollection and mine, then, are the same. Rings are not a guarantee, but are a good sign. Lack of rings........... well........ I am honestly not sure? And I do not recall with conclusiveness that the topic has ever been addressed, and resolved! Here are some additional close-ups. As always, if the (my) Spange is not good, I want to be the first to know. Regards, Mark
    7. Hi Rich, Sorry for the delayed reply. No excuse, other than just being lazy! Here are some additional images of the bronze Fighter. I do not see any rotary milling marks. I can't remember the axiom. Are all authentic Flight Spanges manufactured with this, and only this process??? Looking closely at the reverse, I wonder about the coloration inside the perimeter of the wreath? I tried lacquer thinner on a Qtip. The reddish tint is permanent, and is NOT soluable. Regards, Mark
    8. Thanks Paul, and again, to some of the 'Top Brass', for the positive replys! As I mentioned earlier, I don't do Ribbons, so this was just a wild stab. It's rare, these days, that good deals turn up. Mark
    9. Rick and Stogie, Howdee and thanks for the comments. What book is a good primer for me to purchase, to get me up and running on ribbons. It's fascinating just how much info can be drawn from a ribbon bar. A bit like a sample of DNA. Regards, Mark
    10. To All, I picked up this ribbon bar, not knowing much about ribbon bars in general. So I ask you, are the ribbons 'plausible'? I asked on the other forum, and got little helpful replies. I hope I can do better here. Much Thanks, Mark
    11. My only Aluminum Pilot. A lovely Assmann DRGM marked. From a great friend and collector in England. Regards, Mark
    12. John, What a pair!!! Beautiful. Can we trade? Regards, Mark
    13. Hi Rich, I will have to check the badge, itself. The scan does not reflect the 'rings', you are correct. I wonder if the 'chocolate bronze' is just so think, that the rings are not visable. I will follow up. Regards, Mark
