    1. John & Steve, Much Thanks! Not that I'm doubting its authenticity for a second......... but..........Has anyone ever seen another of this style Assmann? Regards, Mark
    2. Hello Gentlemen, Whilst not typically a Tunic Guy, I traded for two tunics about a month ago. Here is one of them. When I got it, I knew it was to a DKiG winner. Once I got it home, and checked the name in the inner brest pocket, I found out the guy also was Kommander of I./IR 484, AND was awarded the RK! I have been provided with some information for the guy, ERICH GLAESER. Now my question is, or maybe better put as a request for some help, does anyone have, or can anyone find, any additional info on the man. Unfortunately, I am not a personality researcher, so I neither am aware of, nor do I have the tools at hand, to dig into the 'history'. I'd love to know what other awards he received, and what campaigns he was involved with. Please read some excerts from another forum thread, below: "The name reads Gl?ser rather than Glaser judging by the umlauts over the a. There's one officer listed in the DKiG lists that could fit. Oberstleutnant Erich Gl?ser, awarded the DK on 2.1.1942 as Major and commander of I./Inf.Rgt.484 of the 254 Inf.Div. He also earned the Knight's Cross http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/index_search...amp;searchword= Note that his last name is spelled Glaeser here, ae is the form used for ? when you don't have umlauts on your typewriter or these days keyboard. He received his DK and RK whilst the 254 ID was engaged in a long period of largely static warfare on the Volkov front as part of the I armeekorps of the 18 Armee Pulled together from the following: Die tr?ger des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold by Horst Scheibert Rangliste des Heeres 194445 Verb?nde und Truppen der deutschen Wehrmacht und Waffen-SS by Georg Tessin" Any help is appreciated! Regards, Mark [attachmentid=49642]
    3. And the unique makermark- A over A&S. This was an old scan, and did not enlarge too well. Now I have a digital camera (finally!) and could provide better images, if requested. Thanks, Mark [attachmentid=49434]
    4. Hi guys! How ironic. I haven't visited here in a while, and the very first thread I read grabs my attention, and cites one of my beauties. I still have a size limit on my images, so I will resize my ASSMANN egg-shaped P/O. John, Great information you posted above. I absolutely love your oval Para. Regards, Mark [attachmentid=49421]
    5. Hey Stogie, My old Epson Scanner stills works. But I jumped through hoops finding a driver to make it work with 'XP'. If I close the cover, the badge doesn't vibrate. But then I can't get that infamous 'blacked-out background'. A Canon Digital Rebel XT with 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens is soon to be part of my collection. Regards, Mark
    6. 'J', The rivets on my egg/ Abz are very similar to those found on the earlier Juncker and Deumer pieces, ie - tombak flat topped rivets. Not the rounded 'nipple - shaped' rivets that are characteristic on the other early Assmann pilot series. Additionally, the hand filing and workmanship on the eagle's wing tips, and on the lower chest feathers is near perfect. Just part of my speculation that this badge was made when time and experienced workers were both still in supply. You like this badge? $$$$$ Regards, Mark PS - Yep, exact same makermark as on your RAD Hewer!
    7. And here is the Deumer. I guess that this is a 2nd pattern? Mark [attachmentid=28365]
    8. Assmann double marked 'A' & L/64. Faintly seen is the '1' on the wreath, as are the injection molding points. Mark [attachmentid=28364]
    9. Another late war Assmann. I wish the eagle on this example was more 'giltier'. Some examples posted earlier by other members are killers! Mark [attachmentid=28363]
    10. The rivets have been tapped down once or twice. I think that long tail kept snagging on the pocket, or on the parachute harness. Mark [attachmentid=28362]
    11. The reverse hardware is neatly assembled for a zinker! Mark [attachmentid=28357]
    12. Unfortunately, some jerk scratched the reverse checking for solid gold and silver..... Mark [attachmentid=28354]
    13. And one of my first Luft badges. A nickel silver Juncker. Mark [attachmentid=28352]
    14. JMME reverse. Hardware looks very Junckerish (that's a new word)! Mark [attachmentid=28345]
    15. The GWL reverse. Gotta love that makermark! And it came cased. Mark [attachmentid=28343]
