Liverpool City Police 1966 I picked up at an antique shop today (13/10/04), a plaque, to the Liverpool City Police. It has the following written on it, and I am hoping someone will be able to tell me a little bit about it, or suggest somewhere I could contact in order to. Its made out of Sterling Silver, is 9cm by 12 cm, has a Liver Bird and Crown, at the top. Half way down, is a round picture of two swimmers, at sea, with land behind them and a boat. Underneath this is the wording?. Liverpool City Police Henderson Cup Winners F Division 1966 Con.117 ?F? M. Bimson Can anyone tell me what the Henderson Cup was? Which area F Division covered in 1966? Anyway of finding out more about Constable Bimson? Are there any Force magazines/papers, that might give some information. Is there a Force Museum? Any information or research tips would be of great help. Gordon.

Hi, Can anyone give me any details, as to the circumstances of the Police Strike of 1919. I recently bought a medal group, to a Bobby from X Div, and have discovered that he was sacked because of his part in this strike, and am keen to find out more about this incident. Can anyone shine any light on it for me?? BJOW.

Cheers Pikey, thats smashing thank you very much indeed for that. I`ve sent you an email, when you get it let me know and I`ll email you with my postal address. Is it possible to confirm whether Hughes had any Military Service, as I`m keen to confirm this, just so I`ve got all the facts right for my research. Many thanks again. BJOW.

Hi Guys, Pikey first. If you wouldn`t at all mind, I`d be very greatful indeed, if you can turn up any details at all on PC Hughes Met career, as well as his disciplinary details...cheers mate!!! With reference to the 1911 medal, I`ll bear you offer in mind. I`d like one for my collection, but would prefer a named one, especially one to a North Wales Area Bobby, I know there out there somewhere. Which Force are your two Welsh ones to? Vice Chair man, your medal group sounds smashing, a little confused, I take it by trio you mean the 1887 &97, 1902 and 1911, with the Egypt...as apposed to 1914 and bar trio, and Egypt medal.........now surely a bobby, with that level of service, should be posted on the longest serving Bobby topic, ho,ho,ho. Which unit did your guy serve in in Egypt. I must admit I`ve only just started collecting military and police medal groups, but I`m hooked!!!! I have a framed picture of Supt Olive, and all his senior officers from X Div, about 1911 era, one of them died whilst still serving, however, I have been unable to find out more details, off the top of my head I think he was Insp H Ball, but I`ll get back to you on that one. Any ideas as to how I could find out what happened to him?? BJOW.

Quality, look forward to hearing from you. -
Hi Pikey, Great minds think alike, I have just come on line in order to tell you his warrant number, and found your message. Yes his warrant number was 71622, and his collar numbers where C379, F42 & R425. Many thanks in advance for you time, I do hope we can find out what he was in trouble for. Did you ever find out what PC154 William Johns, had been up two, didn`t he get discplined twice? Am I right in thinking that you collect military/police groups? Kind regards, BJOW.

Hi Pikey, If you could find anything else out for me that would be really cool.. I have been able to find out the following...His name was Richard Hughes he was born in the parish of St George in East London. He joined the 1st Btn Royal Sussex Regiment on the 20/04/80 aged 18yrs and 3 months, he served with the Btn during the Egypt Campaign, left the army and in 1885, and joined the Met on the 03/05/86 C Div, on the 02/07/86 he was posted to F Div for disciplinary reasons. On the 07/10/90 he was again posted this time to R Div, he left the Met a short time later, and rejoined the army, serving with the Sussex till 1896. If you can tell me anything more about his Police career, that would be really great!!!! Really sad, that the Met Museum is closed, and looking to stay that way, what a damn shame!!!!!! BJOW.

Hi, Does anyone know if it is possible to find out what Victorian Bobbies, who have a disciplinary record, where in trouble for?? I know a lot got the sack, for various things, usuall involving alcohol, but why would he have been moved to another Div, anyone any thoughts? Does anyone know when the Met Museum is due to re open? BJOW.

Egypt Campaign 1882-89

Just to narrow it down a bit, I`m trying to find out more about the The Nile 1884-5 part of the campaign. -
Hi, Can anyone confirm for me, what the WW1 medal entitlement, would be for Able Seaman William Drayner, he was K.I.A in Sept 1914, when HMS Hogue was sunk in the North Sea. He was a reserve sailor, who had joined in about 1899, and left in 1910, to join the City of London Police, I know he is entitled to the 1911 Coronation medal. He was then recalled to the colours, in 1914, having been a Bobby for 4 years. A few weeks later he was dead. I take it that he would have been issued the 1914 Star, but would he have been entitled to the clasp? Does anyone know the whereabouts of his Trio and Plaque?? If anyone can help me out with answers to either, of these questions, I`d very much like to hear from you. Cheers BJOW.

I recently bought on ebay, a group of documents relating to a Bobby from Durham Constabulary. In these documents was two of his PNB`s one of which gives details of the murder of an Officer from Burton on Trent, murdered by an Amercian Service man. I think this may have been PC Brinley Booth, who was blungeoned to death, whilst affecting an arrest, can anyone confirm this for me, and supply me any additional information?

1935 jubilee medal
bigjarofwasps replied to a topic in Great Britain: Mervyn Mitton's British & Colonial Police Forces
Even though the Met Museum has closed, does anyone known whether they still carry out research? Or is all that information just gathering dust? Re PC Fairhall, he certainly was a jammy guy, to only be in 10 days and get a gong!!!! Some Bobbies do their enter career and not get one!!!!! -

Interesting questions and to be honest I don`t know, have you tried the Met Museum? I take it he did serve in the Met. However, thinking about it I don`t think that this medal was issued on mass, I think it was a bit like the 1977 one, where on a few got it, but you never know PC Fairhall might have been one of the few. -
