Interesting example of an E11R (second version) to - Constable 546 William Gibb of the Air Force Department Constabulary. William was stationed at 14 Maintenance Unit, RAF Carlisle, when he received his LSGC.

I’m advised that the example on the bottom, is more grammatically correct. Rhngll is Sgt Rhing is Serg But certainly further scope for collecting, trying to find examples of both!

Interesting development, the example on the top is to a male sergeant and engraved Rhing, the example underneath is to a female sergeant and engraved Rhgll.

Have to say in my humble opinion the Canadian version of the King Charles Coronation Medal, is far superior to the U.K. version. Would be interested to learn if the RCMP have transitioned to the King’s effigy on their LSGC’s yet.

Yes I agree, I imagine they are both genuine. I suspect that due to an admin error he was awarded another medal for a subsequent later tour.

Very curious! A little out of my area of expertise I’m afraid. Certainly looks old although the naming is definitely different. If it was a replacement it would be marked as such with an “R” on the rim. Possibly a duplicate award as apposed to anything more sinister. Doubt a King’s regiment medal would merit a fake….. Might be worth contacting https://www.kral.org.uk/ You never know, someone may remember him? He may also be mentioned in the Regimental magazine/journal? There might even be a photograph of him in there… Not sure if the King’s served in Cyprus or not. But if I had to guess if he does have any other medals, it’s more than likely to be this medal or an LSGC. Back in those days there was very little scope for medals, so I wouldn’t at all be surprised to learn this was his sole award.

Found this, which I thought might be of interest? This must be one of the last deployments to Ireland that the regiment did, before being amalgamated? Soldiers from the United Kingdom Stand-By Battalion, The King's Regiment (Liverpool), move out on patrol in Saxon armoured vehicles from Girdwood Barracks in Belfast in July 1998. The Battalion had been airlifted to Belfast from Blackpool at short notice a few days earlier to assist the Royal Ulster Constabulary in controlling sectarian violence at Drumcree and elsewhere during the parade season.

I would also hazard his army number puts him joining in the late 1960’s. In 1972, the King's Regiment, was stationed in West Belfast, Northern Ireland from April 25 to August 25. The regiment's tour of duty was marked by a number of casualties, including.
