    1. It would be extremely helpful, if you could share the pictures of your verified original items, then we all can see the differences between the posted lemons and certified originals. Btw I mean the MVK 1st class w crown and X.
    2. With all due respect, why do you assume that there were suppositions made? What is useless in your eyes reflects the high knowledge of very highly specialized collectors and their scientific work. Assuming that there is no scientific method is impudence. You do not know the other forum members, their collections, knowledge and reputation. You expect a scientific elaboration, then you might trust the statements or maybe not. This is not what you may expect from a forum. For most members collecting is a hobby and they do not have the time to write books or articles in medal journals. Nevertheless they have the experience and knowledge to judge whether a medal which is part of their special field is a fake or not. You should think about all that, gracias!
    3. There was an article in a miltaria journal some time ago, as soon i will find out, I will provide you w more information.
    4. The word "fechten" in this case does not mean "to fence", it is "to beg". The award was given from the "Deutsche Krieger-Fechtanstalt" which was kind of a welfare/charity organization.
    5. I am able to understand your English as well as your good old aunt was able to understand it! And I would bet that you will get not a single pic of any Bavarian medal here in this forum. Wait til next year and buy "the Bible" then you'll find out all answers to your quests for sure. Btw the author will be in Reichertshofen. Give him fun for some hours and show him your 1st class MVK, even better, let him make a scan of the medal and it will appear in the book (chapter "poor fakes"). Therewith this argument is ended now for my part. Best greetings from clawfinger!!! saschaw: Ist halt schwer bei soviel Ignaranz.
    6. Congrats, you are the only one who thinks this is sarcasm! And the only one who says your MVK is an original.
    7. You better should, believe me! Because I AM AN EXPERT in Bavarian items as other guys know. Sorry! (Good saying from your good old aunt but not always appropriable!!). AND, believe it or not, I KNOW THE GUY who makes most of these FAKES in person!
    8. Oh, very interesting indeed! You do not trust members who "have just joined or posted very little on the forum". If this is your way of thinking, well, this is your point of view but not in the sense of a forum. I myself have been collecting Bavarian orders and medals for 30 years and I have had access to huge collections and to the knowledge of these collectors. Anyway, if you believe your 1st class w crown X is an original, keep on believing it until you will see the upcoming reference book which will be edited by the end of 2008. Hopefully you have heard about this author, this will be his 1st book, maybe he is not trustable in your eyes. Btw your 1st class w crown X is a well known fake made of a lower grade, this is what hundreds of WW1 collectors all over the world have known for a long wile!! Try to sell it and you will pick a lot of laughers!
    9. All I can detect on the goblet are the silver content mark 8oo, German mark half moon and crown for real silver and maybe the mark of the city of Heilbronn, but no makers mark. I would guess the maker was a Berlin juweller? Heilbronn would make no sense, it is in Wuerttemberg, not in Prussia. But anyway, a real beauty!!!
    10. No way to fit. Either there was a military merit order on the bar then the long service cross matches or the 3rd class of the military merit cross was on, then the long service cross CANNOT be.
    11. Thanks for all the good information! What I do not understand so far, is the medal Al Valore Marina the lifesavings medal of Italy or of the Navy or is it another Italian lifesavings medal which is listed in the Ordensalmanach? Rick, both medals are engraved.
    12. The newest kids in my collection: Medal group with 3 medal bars, one in regular pattern, one Frackspange and one medal bar without medals, no hooks on the back just the pin. Both with maker tag of Godet. One crown order marked ?W?, the other ?JG&S?. One Italian medal marked FERRARIS, the other unmarked. With big case of Godet plus the cases for the Prussian live savings medal and the Italian medal Al Valore Marina. Both Italian medals engraved: A Kopp Heinrich Ingegnere SIRACUSA 27. Agosto 1905. As I have absolutely no reference book about Italian medals I have some questions: -Was the medal Al Valore Marina kind of Coastguard medal or Navy? -How many were awarded in which time period and how many German recepients existed? -What was going on August 27th in1905 in or near Syracuse? -Is there an archive where I can find information about german live savings medal winners? Many thxs in advance!
