There were three Bavarian units in the Ostsee-Division.
• bayer. Kraftwagen-Maschinengewehr-Kompanie, zugeteilt dem Radfahr-Bataillon Nr. 5
• bayer. Feldlazarett Nr. 23
• bayer. Gebirgs-Artillerie-Abteilung Nr. 2 (bayer. Gebirgs-Kanonen-Batterie Nr. 7, bayer. Gebirgs-Kanonen-Batterie Nr. 12, bayer. Gebirgs-Batterie Nr. 8 (H))Good to know, didn't know about these. Anyways, the Tirol connection does in my opinion confirm it the the Gebrigs-Artillerie-Abteiling 2 which was a former unit of the Alpenkorps which fought in Tirol.

Very nice indeed!!! Do you know who the recipient was?
No, but I managed o narrow it down to the unit as there was only one Bavarian unit in the Ostsee-Division. Perhaps more your taste as it was the Kgl. Bayerische Gebirgs-Artillerie-Abteilung Nr. 2, which had previously a part of the Alpenkorps before being transferred to the Ostsee-Division which fought in Finland.

Perhaps some people really wanted to make sure you wouldn't end up with the burden of having all the Leib Regiment related items

That's what I look like as it's a photo of me My friends have told me as well that I look like an Axe killer, however I'm just a normal Finnish guy (that's a link I find fitting).

Saxon pentagon fold on period picture.
There's a link to a thread on this forum of a photo which shows the "traditional" or nationalist fold of Saxony.
I recall having myself a single-mount EK2 on this type Saxon mount somewhere.

I've noticed the Saxon mount isn't really an tri-fold like the Austrian ones. They're usually more like 5-edged in a similar shape of a tri-fold, but leaning more towards a pentagon.

well well , the Finnish Orders seems to have been a Good investment .
Seems so, even if prices were down for a few years. One reason why the price drop never was so radical is that the prices weren't originally that high after all relative to other nations awards, considering the rarity of many orders. Think what the price would be for a German or British gallantry order that was awarded only 167 times... We're lucky the prices aren't higher as they could be higher

Wow, 938€ is a lot of money!

Things are starting to get interesting, can't wait to see the hammer price as I haven't seen one for sale in years in an auction. This particular cross has been auctioned twice, it seems to be a quite good investment piece.
Just to make things clear I'm myself not a bidder, I'm just following the auction.

Prices have gone down in recent years, but the rarities do still today have quite a price tag. I do have seen a slight increase in prices this autumn, e.g. Holmasto auctioned a 1941 2.Class Cross of Liberty for 600€ + 24% buyers premium which is the highest I've seen in a while (auction of 30th September). Considering that 1160 of these -41 models awarded contrary to the 167 of the -39 model awarded I'm expecting the Ebay cross to go for more than what it went in the Künker auction. For the moment the price is 603€, it's on a good way of going for more than what it was purchased for.

That cross is worth a lot more than what it was sold at Künker.

Thank you all for the nice comments and advice.
Some really nice examples have been shown here.
So far I've been mainly a collector of mainly Finnish awards from our War of Libertation 1918 and a collector of Iron Crosses. As I've acquired some nice bars during recent years from the Ostsee Division, the orders of the different German states have started to become a new area of interest as some bars have contained some of these.
Best regards,
Daniel
