    1. Hi Gents grabbed this for the Hoffman art on the front then found there were some cool photos on the back.... The reverse... bonus! Hope you like tony
    2. Hi Gents The pip may hold a clue but I can't date it . I think it belongs here in the imperial forum. Great little (Cavalry?) lobster tail style helmet, great effort by someone. Found luckily, in the bottom of a box of junk from a house clearance. 'plate' - pip chinstrap - bracelet hope you like tony
    3. Hi Gents size approx 6x7cm photo quality images. Issued possibly or maybe photos of maps. Reverse plain. Removed from a photo album. tony

    7. Hi Gents I picked this up a while ago. Described as Austrian. As the chinstrap is not the lower mounted German style I agreed but ... It seems since that I have only seen ones with a lower chinstrap rivet placing. As 50% of my assumptions are optimistic but incorrect I'm curious to find out If this is AH. It is my favourite of my helmets (of course!) it has some of the original paint and only surface rust but the liner has not survived. I think the 2 little holes by the right hand rivet are possibly later - perhaps to enable fitting of a replacement liner. Any thoughts please Gents? hope you like... tony
    8. Hi Gents these are all different examples if the front is the same then the back is different. I was told recently that the thick pinned are older.... i don't know the ages and maybe the FF's don't belong? I couldn't get past thinking, (wistfully) somehow it stood for Franz Ferdinand. Don't laugh. As I've just recently read a post about a Rumanian Royal Cypher with initials Ff ive dug them out. all bar one are metal tony
    9. Hi Mike, There are some many things that tempt! ' I have to have it!' Fun though... Anyway. Good looking list I will keep an eye out.... you never know, tony

Eg: ive noticed a QSA on eBay. I don't know how international eBay works so in case you aren't aware of it 2 bar Medal named to soldier from 2nd Wiltshire Reg (not cav/naval obv) bars- Orangefree county and Cape colony.... seperately listed his star and vic medals. ...... tony

    14. Morning Gents... Hope you don't mind me straying slightly? Is it within the rules as it's my own post?? Anyway. I recently got a 1943 Admiralty 'booklet' about The Royal Marines... it has a some first hand accounts. Last paragraph is interesting.... 1942!
