    1. Oh, how can I find to what duty he was posted?
    2. Weren't the last three awards issued only by request and to anyone who applied? I see photos of high rankers wearing these but sometime one or two of them at the end, not all three. Also, Rommel and some other famous officers didn't wear any of them. WHY?
    3. Thanks, does it meniton awards or what the MID was for? What does "GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH in all cases" mean?
    4. Not really, just sent and no longer straight.
    5. Here's the bar. I like it. YOu can see the silver wash on the side of the swords on the Bavairian MMO
    6. Hi, Thanks. Those are two good sites but unfortunately the posted images seem to be the only two known photos of him on the web. The only known Benthack Tropical Uniform is his pow photo.
    7. I just bought this ribbon bar from a man in this town. He doesn't take Paypal so I have to mail cash. Wondering if someone here will pay him if I send them paypal with fees paid then ship the item to me. It msay be easier to send cash. It's only 9.12 euro. Only bidder!!!
    8. Is R?dental part of the old Saxe-Coburg region? Does anyone on this frum live in or near here? My new ribbon bar.
    9. I'm searching for photos of General Georg Benthack, Commander Fortress Crete and Fortress Division 133.
    10. Rick L, you were correct. The camera work was part of the problem. The ribbons look correct and show some age and the devices look nicely detailed. The bar is slightly bent but does not detract.
    11. The ribbon bar arrived today and it's a beauty... The Bavarian MMO swords are silver. It's hard to see in the picture but when you hold it they look silver and you can see some of the shiny silver finish in the cracks and side of the device. I'll take some images this week. The Spange is very detailed and small. It's purdy
    12. Paul, I've posted a link to a page that shows the ranks and the branch colors. For some reason the NCO grades are missing. I see if I can find my chart. http://www.geocities.com/finnmilpge/fmp_ranks.html
    13. Paul, The tabs on infantry (this tunic) and Jaeger are green. Infantry have silver edging and Jaeger's have gold. The Finns had as many colors as the Germans.
    14. Rick, I have a few Finnish ribbon bars for both officer and enlisted man. I do like the Finnish...
    15. Major's tunic of infantry. Nice wartime cap with a rare early piped Arty officer's cap below. The matching trousers with the green stripe down the seam accompany the tunic.
    16. Here's a very nice and rare tunic to supply NCO.
    17. Here's a nice used BD for an officer serving in Africa. The BD isSouth African. The Pilot Wing is faded as is the rank loops. It's in a box somewhere with other RAF and RCAF items. But where?
    18. Dave, No, the whistle is not AM marked That's the way I received the blouse and I have left it that way. It's a plastic whistle...
    19. More infor on the uniform set RAF blouse and matching trousers worn by Wing Commander G.F. Anderson. Blouse dated 1942 marked 'Air Crews Blouses Size 6'. Complete with Wing Commanders rank braid to epaulettes with embroidered 'A' above for Auxiliary Air Force Service. Embroidered RAF pilot's wings. Air Efficiency Award medal ribbon bar below wings with oak leaf palm for Mention in Dispatches. I don't know anything else about Anderson. I'd like to but have but haven't found anything.
    20. Yes, I have a BD to General Miles that has a MID device sewn on a ribbon made of material similar to the BD itself. I also have a ribbon bar with the last ribbon of drab material to look like the tunic with a MID device attached. There was no ribbon to attach the device to until war's end.
    21. Very attractive... Eastern European Countries tend to have what I consider Russian style badges.
