I'm all in for scotch and a cigar or wine and cheese.
I guess my favorite are LGR100 and IR116. I think best may have been the wrong word. Actually, I wondered if the German high command had certain regiments considered as elite or most reliable.

Those are two super tunics. It's nice to have someone post nice examples of wartime tunics. I like the cap too.

If you do sell please don't split the group. Try selling to someone who'll appreciate the history behind the medals.

I'm sure you would regret selling later in life as would your children. Keep the group and research records and ask for help from forum members so that you can build the history of your grandfathers service. Later, after you've learn and documented his service if you still want to sell the medals the group will have greater value.
I think you' ll regret later the money you can make today from selling your families superb military medals.

It does appear to have the same characteristic of a Saxe-Ernestine cross.
Do you have a list of his awards and promotion dates?

I'd like to know more about the Luitpold medals. I've not seen the crowned versions.

Wow, now we're really seeing some very nice bars.
I have a few but none as nice. I'm hoping to one day find a bar suitable for a WW1 general's tunic.

Super quality photo. That's the best WW1 era FR73 i've seen.

I thought the KO crosses were the official issue during the entire war.

Did von Frobel survive the war?

I bet that was a pleasure listening to it rumble down the road. Those "wheel shoes" seem a bit loose, or is that normal?
