Charles:
This piece looks to possibly have a painted iron wreath and a silver center too!
It is very close to the "Meybauer" piece of mine, of course without the markings, and the pin is very slightly different.
Interesting!
"SPM"
I need to look at mine closer to see if it may be silver.
IR116
p.s.: The more that I look at the piece that started this thread, from the obverse, it looks like the wreath and center are made from brass which was then plated/painted (it is difficult to tell thought due to colour variation with scanners/cameras).
Sorry, I see that Ferg1 already noticed this!

I've never seen one made of silver before. I've only seen war metal types. That is very interesting and I do hope mine is real because it's on the way.
Here's one in my collection.

Hello ccj:
It looks right to me:
It seems to have a silvered "kriegsmetal" center and an iron wreath which was painted black. Is the wreath magnetic?
Congratulations!
"SPM"
I'd need to check. should it be?

For those who are interested, an excellent web-site about REAL colour Photo's of the last days of the Romanov Dynasty and other period photo's. These photo's are not recoloured or even coloured , they are genuine photo's taken at the time, ie, turn of the 19th century. They were taken with a special 3 layer camera which recorded each image in their three primary colours and when combined produced a true colour image, to me fascinating.

edit, the site allows you to download small files of the picture, jpeg , medium files or Woppas in uncompressed Tiff format, where it is in uncompressed format at very high file format, this allows you to zoom into the closesd level of details without any deterioratins on picture quality
Fascinating... has anyone attempted Imperial German soldiers or British troops?

Charles,
Yes, the piping on the M07 shoulder boards of the Train Batl. was blue, Hellblau actually. Here is an example from my collection. Not the pale blue you see on some private purchase Train tunics, but this is it.
Chip
Thanks Chip, I seen various shades of blue and I don't know how to know if the straps/borads are cavalry, train, medical, or Landwehr Cav...

Can anyone post images of Train uniforms or shoulder straps? Were the 1907/10 uniforms piped in blue?

For some reason the scanner has made it look brighter and cleaner than it is.
Here is the reverse taken with a camera.
I like the way it's made. I like british ribbon bars and though its odd its still very nice

Dear forumites:
After a little break I am glad to introduce to you my brother's all lippische (Schaumburg) medal bar... It's quite rare to get a medal bar with all medal of a such small German states. On top of that it's a rarer non-combattant bars.
I noticed that lately the prices have been increased also for those medals that earlier weren't considered so hot and desirable.

Eisenbahn troops had nothing to do with Train (German word) units.
Even though the Railroad carried supplies it was not part of the TRAIN?

I'm trying to learn more about Train units. I understand Train actually meant "supply" so I understand supply columns, transport of supplies, and distribution of supplies. What I don't understand is if the Munitions Supply units were completely separate from the other supply units. Also, did all Train, "Supply" units wear the TRAIN BLUE branch piping or did the munitions units wear the piping of the unit they were assigned to?

Were Railroad "Train" units part of the Train "Supply" branch or part of the Technical branch?

If real, it's a beauty. I've seen them sell for 800-1200 euro. Others may have differing opinions but I think 1000euro is about the max I'd pay.

Alex,
This strap above is the correct shoulder strap for the Saxon LIR100. The Saxon Garde-Reiter Schulterklappen in this pattern had two rows of piping, an inner blue piping and an outer white piping. Here is what it looks like (not my photo).
Chip
Oh Chip, someday I must see your strap collection. :jumping:

Will anyone show their LGR100 straps?
