Charles;
The fellow does not live in the US. Why don't you give me a few lines sketching your particular interest in J=B Nr. 27. and I will reach him privately. I sense that he does have an interest in facilitating the memory of the unit.

roger that...

Just guessing.
Grand Prince Dimitri Konstantinovich Cousin to the Czar.
George
Very nice looking uniform and assortment of decorations. Was he an active commander during the war?

Erich Ludendorff
Really! I guess I can see it now but I wouldn't have guess it was him. Is this early war?

Can someone ID this man?

Hello ccj,
Yes, of course. But I mean the individual number engraved or stamped on reverse, near the hallmarks.
Regards,
Jussi-Pekka
I don't own one. This is an image found on the net and I'm not 100% sure whether or not its of a real badge. I'd love to find a badge for my collection. i've seen a few from others collections that have had crew post added instead of the little pins.

Hi, guys;
For a guy who has posted a fair bit here and there, I probably am a nit-wit as to forum decorum. There is a guy who posts, I think, on another forum, whose grand-father was in this unit. He probably was an officer, as he later rose to be a senior Finnish officer.
There are a couple of quite respectable senior pals plugged in here, who could give me some advice. Is it appropriate for me to "rat" on this guy? (I sort of feel that I would be intruding on him.)

I'd be happy to meet him. If he has interest in discussing his family history we'd all enjoy it very much.

Ah Chip, you are teasing me!

Moderator, can we rename this thread Friedrich von Raben or something?
Baden Bar doesn't seem appropriate
Editing a post in Oberst/Oberf?hrer Friedrich von Raben's Ribbon Bar

Gentlemen,
If someone has the award number for the Crown Order commander's cross (second class), without swords, large crown type, I would appreciate the information. I just picked up one of these, and was wondering about the comparative rarity of this item.
Would you post images for our enjoyment?

Well guys,
I have a copy of the article on Friedrich von Raben and his militay family. I need to find a way to translate it but it's a scan. Is there any way to find the article online?

Hi Rick,
no pink cover - I am very disappointed
The red is the old and the blue the new book.
Have to fix the paper stickers; they aren`t made for the future.
greetings
eitze
Well, that'll eliminate the confusion when you go to pick one up.

Chip, I've tried reading it a bit but a lot of it makes no sence to me. I converted it to English and much didn't make translation whereby a simpleton like me can understand.
NICE CAP BADGE BTW.
I've been searching for a 27 Jaeger breast badge for a few years now. I've collected Finnish militaria for many years. If anyone would post images I'd like to see photos of the Finnish troops in Jaeger Btn 27.
Was this man the commander of the JB27? It's a nice photo... I think I found it on a site discussing Finland during WW1.

Charles,
Here is the whole story (if you can read German or have a good translating program). http://sh-home.de/s.j.schaefer/truebplatz/finnen.html
