Friends,
IT IS REALITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today I picked up the first 3 big packets of books.
Nearly three years of work with estimated time effort of 460 working days from Rick and me was worth taht moment as I came to the printer and could see the big piles of books. Just a shame, I took my daugther to take photos but the camera was out of order.............
So, I will post a little "advertising" with some sample pages in the sales forum.
Best regards
Daniel
Rick,
When do those of us who committed to buying these books make payment?
0 -
Daniel is picking up the FIRST batch of 25 each of our first 5 volumes this Friday.
There will be 100 printed of each volume. I will be--eventually-- getting 25 of each for distribution in the Americas. Since ONE set of the 5 books weighs in at over 10 pounds, you will understand the logistical difficulties, as well as the need to add COST of shipping.
By sending them over en masse, that will cut down shipping across the ocean. Trans-shipping will still be cheaper than ordering direct from Germany for those of us on this side of The Pond.
Those of you on the European "waiting list" as posted above should contact Daniel next week when he posts them in the For Sale section. For those of us "Over Here" it will take longer for the books to arrive.
Oh. Almost forgot. The covers will be BLUE.
I hope I'm on the list of the 1st 25 in the US of A
HOPE...

Aha! YOU DO have a Finnish ribbon bar!
What's the badge over his right pocket?
Rick,
The badge over the right pocket is a pistol shooting award.

Are not photo#1 and #2 the same chap?
What is the vets' badge worn on the chest in #9?
I didn't notice the resemblance before. I think you are right... It would be nice if we could make out the numbers on the boards.

Hello Christer:
These fellows are using a captured French Saint-Etienne or Mitrailleuse mle 1907. It is interesting to see the improvised mount using a carriage wheel!
Apparently, these weapons were rather horrible to use in practice (design faults caused stoppages often). You can see one of the soldiers in the photo with a strip of ammunition (there were 24 and 30 round versions).
Perhaps the French soldiers allowed the "capture" of this weapon for these unsuspecting enemy troops to use.
All joking aside, a very nice photo of an interesting weapon!
Best regards,
"SPM"
Nice picture

Can you post the other pair of boards?

The time that it takes to continual ask for officer information gets to be extensive. One of the reason I put together a CD with the Imperial German ranklists was so that other collectors could have the information at their fingertips. The CD sells for only $75. I don't mean to be promoting my CD I just would like to see people get the information they need without continually causing others to dig up the information and type it out. I have gotten to the point where I do not provide officer information to someone who continually asks for career information and will not obtain the ranklists. My time, and the time of others, is too valuable to spend on requests for information that can be obtained through the ranklists.
Intersting. I sent you a PM. What does one by having the CD? Ranklist list for what years and what format?

The one, the only.
Thanks, I'm glad something could be found.
Does anyone know how I can get my hands on a HR12 regimental history?

Are these the same St?bgen? Would it be a safe assumption that he would have also been awarded the EKII? JzP St?bgen and the HR St?bgen...

I'd like to find a regimental history of this regiment.

I'm trying to find information about this man.
All I know is that he serviced in Th?ringisches Husaren-Regiment Nr. 12 and was a reserve officer.

I am sure you have, Red Eagle Oak leafs are exactly the same then PlM oak leafs.
You got me there. I hadn't given that much thought but you are right about that.
That's a super PlM... someday I'd love to have one. A nice PlM has to be the center piece of any collection.

No, and I have never seen any.
I've never seen a PlM oakleaf. Thanks for you reply

Hmmm, looking again, was there a unit along the lines of 1. GFAR Guther ?

Mike
Rick almost always has an answer and an example to show. I'd love to have a look at his vast collection of militaria one day...
