A bit of a rarity this one as it's wearer actually belonged to 283 Battery, 17th Light Anti-Aircraft Regt,R.A.(T.A.), which were regimented as "Rough Riders" in September 1941. It moved to 1st Airborne Division in July 1942 and was reorganised as No.1 Air Landing, Light Anti-Aircraft Battery,R.A.(City of London Yeomanry)(T.A.).
Graham.
Yes, rare... I've been looking for a nice RR shoulder title for a while now. I had a real one picked out of ebay but I made a mistake on the end time and missed it.
Attached is a RR title. --- NOT MINE ---

Here's my first beret. I bought it from a very knowledgible Guy, no pun intended. His name is Guy.

BTW, I just realized how to apply my name over an image. I'm slow but can learn.

Here's my 1st pattern denison. Took me years to find a real one but now I have one. Shown with the denison is a real para beret with a "Rough Rider's" collar dog.

Nice but, new medals and orders don't compare to the old ones. Too bad... they were so beautiful and people who receive honors should receive beautiful, quality awards.

Buy'm, H*** no! I'm trying to unload them...

I was thinking more like 80.
Chip
80! You won't remember what the stuff is by then.
You'll probably start wearing the helmets and pinning the medals on the kids who knock on your door. We can't let that happen.
Enjoy them a few more years then call me... I've drive up and load the stuff for safe keeping. I even give you some money for your Medicare co-pay.

Remember, I'm still less than a half century. I say once a man hits 60 he should sell of everything. If not 60 then 65.

Charles,
That is why we old people have reference material!
Chip
Reference material is hard to find these days. Are the old people have those rare out of print books. And what's worse... people are living longer.

Charles,
I would think if you just had an enlisted cap with a "Reservist" cockade, there would be no way of telling whether the soldier was a reservist or a Landwehrmann. Issue markings would be your only help. Landsturm could be differentiated by the color of the cross on the cockades for all ranks. Gilt metal crosses for Landsturm and silver for Landwehr and Reservists.
The Landsturm were the ones that wore their corps/battalion insignia on their collars starting in 1915.
Chip
There's another area that confuses me. Landsturm verses Landwehr. I can read about it then several months later I'm confused again.
Landwehr
Landsturm
Reserve
Landwehr Cavalry

Sorry..................he feels at home where he is. Surrounded by his family & friends!
That's a nice obsession you have...

Charles,
I doubt you will learn anything from this, but here is a selection of Reservist/Landwehr cockades (with the exception of the standard Hamburg enlisted cockade in the upper left of the photo).
Chip
Did reserves wear the same cockade as the landwehr or is there a difference? Often I see portraits and uniform items and I don't know the difference it's an enlisted man wearing the landwehr insignia on his collar.

Would those of you who own Landwehr and Reserves headgear and uniforms please post examples? I'm especially interested in learning more about the headgear crosses and cockades for these troops.

Here's the side. (My precious!)
I assume this is a Death's head Husar Rgt cup. Never have I seen one of these and you obviously have many. It would look much nicer if it were mine.

Let me answer. Delete images and ship the Kaiser's tunic to my address to prevent further damage to others. I will keep it out of site.

OK, found it again.
Will give it a shot..... hold thumbs for me...
Post the link to it so we can make the bidding interesting.

Here's a nice uniform to a Wing Commander. It's attributed but I can't find the info on the man at present.
