Hi,
These bars just arrived today.

Well,
I'm going to get it and look at it in person. Then, I'll post more images and if at that point it's deemed bad I'll send it back.

I was hoping to get this one...
Well,
So far we have 2 for original and 1 for repro. Does anyone else want to offer an opinion?

Thanks, I liked the bar but am suspicious of the devices, especially the eagles.
I didn't think these look cast but I'll study them closer.

What are the opinions of the experts here? I like it but need opinions on the eagles and spange.

Does anyone have an opinion on vacuum sealing uniforms.

I would say NO.
Feldwebelleutnants were Officers, and so not eligible for the MVK.
If there are Feldwebelleutnants listed wiht a MVK I?m sure they received it for an action still done as NCO.
There are even 4 (if I remember exactly) FwLt who received the Hohenzollern knights cross with swords.
Best regards
Daniel
It would be nice to learn more about the awards given to the men of this rank. I bet they were caught in the middle, no PLM and MVK.

Since we're on the topic of Das Preussische Goldene Militar-Verdienstkreuz, did Feldwebelleutnant ranks qualify for this award?

Chris,
Here is another one that I personally took off of a period salesman's sample board. I was told it was worn by W?rttemburg mountain troops (thus the king's crown). I have only seen one other like it and that one was pinned on an early Reichswehr cap (the one that looks like a Prussian Einheitsm?tze with a cloth covered soft visor). The crown is a good indication, I think, as to the period it was worn, but I have no other information about it.

Wow Chip, I like that badge!! Can you add that to the list of items going to ME in your WILL?

Lippe silberne Verdienstmeadaille
Can anyone show me one of these medals and tell me what constitiuted the awarding?

And Pompey Elliot's jacket, which shows a good example of the typical brass buttons.
Very nice...
I'm a big fan of WW1 and 2 Australian uniforms.

What merited the award of the St Michael medal or order?

I'd still buy it if it showed up for sale though!

I think his order bar maker should have made consideration for actually wearing the bar!!
9 awards shouldn't take up that much room.

Charles,
Thanks for the additional photo. The inside looks OK, but I have to admit that I rarely see maker marks with dates. Usually, the only dates are those associated with the B.A. marks. Not impossible, just unusual. I checked my thirteen issue caps, of which only about five were maker marked. No dates. The placement of the mark is a bit unusual too... right in the middle. On all of my marked caps, the maker marks are off to the side, which I assume was done to leave space for the B.A. markings. Finally, once again, I find it unusual that the cap is marked by a maker in the same town that the regiment is stationed. This would seem normal for a custom cap, but I don't think that is what this cap is supposed to be. Most Saxon issue items were contracted in the main cities, Leipzig, Dresden, Chemnitz, and so forth. Anyway, just some observations that probably mean nothing, but food for thought none-the-less.
Best regards,
Chip
Chip, thanks for offering your observations. I need to really study this before making my final decision.

The Waldeck bar is really interesting.
But as Rick said, nothing with a extra crown from there. Only the first class comes with a crown, but it was part of the decoration itself and no higher class.
By the way - thenever you think of selling this piece, let me know.
I`ve got a whole family of Waldeck`s here and they are always waiting for new members
greetings

I'll remember you when I do. Maybe you'll have something I like in exchange...

How does the top ribbon bar attach to the uniform? It looks like it has a string that threads through loops.

the reverse.
BTW, this does not glow in black light and the ribbons are all original. The only thing that seems odd is the crown above the swords has more wear than the swords or the other crown device.

Sorry for the poor scans but i haven't convinced my wife we need an EPSON scanner. She bought this Lexmark 7350 and I can't say it's bad. It works for her stuff!
