    1. Still around then Tony, those SWBs for south Londoners? - and how's the young Don Henley aka Scott?
    2. Will do, it doesn't show the photographer but it was taken opposite "Heinrich Most" and shows the small projecting balcony that appears "above" the word "Most" in your photo. I would've scanned it but haven't got the scanner rigged up at the moment - hopefully later today.......
    3. Looks like it Glenn - and how's retirement suiting you Robin? Summering in Spain? Everything ok Kev?
    4. Brian, somebody recently gave me the catalogue for Bosley's auction of 7the December 2012, an album was sold in that auction (Lt Col. RHGO Spence, Intelligence Officer to the International Force Saarbruecken), one photo, illustrated in the catalogue is of "British Troops marching under Nazi Drapes". It appears to have been taken from a spot on the other side of the road, directly opposite the spot that yours was taken from, just as the men with tubas are passing.
    5. Good to be back, just got to time manage better - particularly with a slooooow connection out in the sticks.
    6. I'll have a look for the booklet - it has 2 or 3 hundred pages I should think, so it may take a while to post. It's interesting to hear more of the Legion's public spirited activities rather than negative reports about some individuals or units.
    7. Hello chaps - at last I should be spending more time on site, I'm keeping a very low profile in terms of aquiring things for my collections, haven't picked anything up for ages - apart from a 1/2 dozen or so very raggy pikelhauben months ago. I fell off the wagon with those and shouldn't have, at the very least I should have got one good quality item. I just can't afford to casually blitz loads of money on shiny badges and stuff like I used to. Most of my times spent trying to avoid doing stuff around the house and garden and failing to avoid having to go to work. I look forward to wading through all the posts I've missed......
    8. The claspon the full sized star looks interesting - not the official sew on type, but possibly a private purchase "slide - on" one that has been split along one side?
    9. I may have posted a photo of the 3 x manouevre bands I have named to men of the 37th Pioneer but I don't think that I've posted this photo of one of them named to Merter
    10. "G" was used as a prefix by Home Counties regiments, eg the West Kents, East Surreys, Royal Fusiliers and Royal Artillery units raised in the area, but it turns up on medals to lots of non - Home Counties regiments including Royal Irish Fusiliers, presumably because men have transferred but kept their old number.
    11. Yep, looks like RAMC - perhaps a hospital in the background? Only one I can remember is the naval hospital and as I only ever went near it on enforced fitness runs I was too distracted by pain to admire the architecture.
