    2. If anyone has a way to acquire a digital copy of the Official Ethiopian Government Proclamations (called Negarit Gazeta), I'd really appreciate it. I'm looking specifically for: Issue number 16 169/79 from 5 September 1979 titled: Medals and Orders Proclamation. Issue number 9 257/84. I’m not sure of the date outside of the year: 1984 titled: Medals, Orders and Prizes Proclamation.

Order de la Liberation de 30 août 2023 The former Gabonese commander of the Republican Guard, Brice Oligui Nguema, in true praetorian fashion, became president of the Republic after a soft coup d'etat on 30 August 2023. A year later he awarded himself the Order of Liberation of 30 August 2023. It is awarded in two grades and one distinction. Grades: Knight and Commander Distinction: Grand Cross The President as grand master of the order wears the collar. see: https://youtu.be/50hds8-KdoU?si=M4Du0Wy95j29ffI-

      PDRE Article

Africa enthusiasts, I have compiled an article on DPRE Orders, Decorations and Medals. I humbly submit it to you for editing, comments, or questions regarding the content, style, or glaring corrections needed. I'm not really looking to profit off of this, just something I like to collect and thought to share with like-minded collectors. Please don't hesitate to use this space to contribute to this effort. I am happy to add acknowledgements if you so desire. Otherwise, enjoy https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Tpk-npmyMiJ_hqD0CZKhcJr7wXtlLxGs/view?usp=drive_linkhttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1Tpk-npmyMiJ_hqD0CZKhcJr7wXtlLxGs/view?usp=drive_link Thanks for looking, -Mike
    8. Fellow Africa Experts, im doing some research on Derg Orders and Decorations. I came across the following picture of MG Meredasa Lelisa. In the picture he is wearing an Order of the February 1974 Revolution 2nd class, a wounded on duty medal and another I can’t recognize to the far right. It appears to have a large bee a fixed to a five-pointed star. The star hangs from a standard Derg medal hanger that has a flat folded ribbon. In the color picture the ribbon appears to be green with a tricolor centered. I can’t make out the tricolor. Any information is appreciated,
    9. Megan, Specifically I found this on a website called “The Internet Archive “ (https://archive.org/details/armeerundschau) generally, I’m doing research for an article I’m considering for submission to OMSA covering DERG to present ODM. I’ll be using the following bibliography: Zewde, Bahru “A History of Modern Ethiopia “ Kapuscinski, Ryszard “The Emperor “ Keller, Edmond “Revolutionary Ethiopia “ Henze, Paul “Ethiopia in Mengistu’s Final Years, Until the Last Bullet” vols 1&2 -This list is heavy on the Socialist period of Ethiopia. I’ll likely use recent media reporting for the Haile-Mirium/Ahmed regimes.
    10. For those interested the magazine posted by ilja559 is from the East German National People’s Army “Armeerundschau” dated January 1990
    11. ALCON, I picked this up the last time I was in Addis. Can’t read Amharic but I do recognize the “25” (obverse) and the “TPLF” (reverse). Just wondering if it’s like a 25 anniversary jubilee medal or some such.

      BURKINA FASO

So, I'm doing some research on this subject. The Grande Chancellerie des Ordres Burkinabè has a website. On the website there is a page that lists the decrees by which these medals are created (https://www.gcob.gov.bf/decorations). I had thought that this was merely aspirational as it is a big list: · ORDER OF THE STALLION · ORDER OF BURKINABÉ MERIT · MEDAL OF HONOR OF THE MILITARY · MILITARY MEDAL · MEDAL OF HONOR OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS · MEDAL OF HONOR OF FIRE FIGHTERS · MEDAL OF HONOR OF CUSTOMS · MEDAL OF HONOR OF PRISONS SECURITY · MEDAL OF HONOR OF WATER AND FORESTRY · MEDAL OF HONOR OF POLICE · COMBATANT’S CROSS · COMMEMORATIVE MEDAL FOR SECURITY PERSONNEL · ORDER OF MERIT FOR ARTS, LETTERS, AND COMMUNICATION · ORDER OF MERIT FOR COMMERSE AND INDUSTRY · ORDER OF MERIT FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT · ORDER OF MERIT FOR ECONOMY AND FINANCE · ORDER OF MERIT FOR JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS · ORDER OF MERIT FOR YOUTH AND SPORTS · ORDER OF MERIT OF ACADEMIC PALMS · ORDER OF MERIT FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL ACTION · ORDER OF MERIT FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND LABOR · ORDER OF MERIT FOR TRANSPORT, INFRASTRUCTURE, URBAN PLANNING AND LIVING ENVIRONMENT But seems to be genuine based on the postings to this thread... thanks all for this great information

    19. Thanks Mate! Super helpful.
    20. Fellow Africa Collectors, I came across this Order of the Star of Ethiopia miniature. It has an unusual shape but the same scrollwork indicative of maybe a Sevadjain design (?). At any rate wondering if anyone has seen such a version ? regards, -Mike
    21. Has anyone ordered from Floyd’s Medals before? I ordered two medals and my order has remained as ‘processing’ for a over week.
    22. That was very helpful. Thank you Sir
    23. Thanks kindly. Unfortunately I am not literate in Chinese.
    24. Hello, I am serving abroad and I have had the chance to observe Chinese PLA members. In particular, the ribbon rack. Where Western ribbon racks have to do with awards, decorations, and campaigns, when I looked up the Chinese version of a ribbon rack, of the Senior Colonel I observed (see below), his rack has something to do with length of service and level of command. So, how does the PLA use ribbon racks?
