    2. Is there any finality on how many were on the trip and how many were actually awarded the Jerusalem Cross? Did the crews on the ships qualify or did a recipient have to journey on land to Jerusalem ? And have to be part of a specified official retinue ? Numis

    11. Are there ( and can anyone on this forum provide ) any published statistics for NUMBERS ISSUED for the various types and metals of this medal ? Also : can anyone assist with obtaining the CITATION for an award in Silver , Leopold I issue by Hart , awarded to F. MAJOLINI , Feb.1858 ( probably the date of the action , not the awarding ) ?

I have know of a named example in group with named IBEA Co Medal ( scroll suspender ) , E & W Africa medal for Mwele and Africa GSM for Jubaland ( this last unnamed but verified on roll ) The bar names being queried came from , if i remember correctly , someone writing in to a UK Medal magazine

Chiefs Medal also for Mkokotoni Re the Sultans Campaign Medal 1896: (1)a single source once seen quoted bars for Segeen, Bahwan, Muweelah and Toko Nogo but I have never seen these confirmed anywhere else .Can anyone confirm or refute ?     19. The Order / Institution of Military Merit that I was referring to was that of the French Ancien Regime created in 1759 for non-Catholic officers who could not be admitted to the Order of St.Louis I look forward to further contributions on this topic .Thanks for those above

    21. As noted above , the Societe seems to have had a Bravery Medal. However no literature in English about it yet seen by me ( ditto re the other medal of the Societe )

Thank you for this information Marconi Outside of the campaign medals , what other awards ( Imperial and States ) were made in various German colonial possessions (a)up to WW1 and (b) during WW1 before the British conquests and occupations ( eg a few hundred IC's in GSWA ; and for the troops under Von Lettow in E.Africa ? ) Any differences in eligibiity for locals / natives as opposed to Germans? Any awards of local origin ( eg Crosses of Krieger Vereins noted for GSWA ) ?

Thank you for the interesting and much appreciated information What would certainly be of interest would be ( re the St Louis ) : (a) number awarded to French serving in Canada and periods of issue and (b) a breakdown of the circa 180 French Canadian recipients into categories if such is possible ( this in order to get some idea of who was being rewarded ) Also: were any awards of the Military Merit Order made (a) in Canada and (b) to Canadians ?
