Very nice new addition to Bavaria, just to mention that while the military merit crosses are very nicely presented ( all classes ), the order of the military merit ( for officers ) can be better explained with more classes to look at. Anyway, as I mentioned, to many people your site is the main reference when it comes to German states orders, so keep up the great work. I think I offered my help 2 years ago or so ( in WAF ), as usual if you need my web-developing skills I'd be happy to help always ( your site is very well presented in my opinion, very user friendly ). Best regards, Ran

Hi Dave, Amazing work as usual, your site is my collecting bible I didn't quite understand the difference between these newly added orders and the other ones, why aren't they all in the same page about Bavaria. Also I couldn't find the link to the new page in the site ( I saw it by clicking on the link here ). If you added so many new orders to Bavaria that means other states had more orders too which are not in the site yet ? Thanks again for your beautiful work, Ran

Hi, -Still looking for info about the honor cross ( and if possible images ). What was it given for and how many times ? -What's the difference between the gold merit cross, silver merit cross, honor cross and Wilhelm Ernst War Cross ? - Famous poeple who were decorated with this order ( info/images ). - And as usual if you have more info/images/links... about this order please share. Best regards, Ran

Thanks again for the explanation If you know any other nice online shops or auction houses that do "speak" English I'd love to know about them ( ones that are selling German imperial orders of course ). Also I'd really love to get some info about the honor cross which was posted here, it's the first time I see it. Best regards, Ran

This is an interesting order with some variations ( Letter on the upper arm till 1864 ), year date from 1914-1918, no oak leaf wreath for foreigners and so on. Also this order was given in all 3 Saxe duchies ( Saxe-Meiningen, Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Saxe-Altenburg ) I've been trying to get as many images and info about this order and found very nice things in these 3 places : 1) The Dave Danner site http://home.att.net/%7Edavid.danner/militaria.html ( in German States - Saxe-Meiningen ) 2) The medalnet site http://www.medalnet.net/ ( in various places ) 3) In this place : ( anybody knows who it belongs to and if it's trust worthy ? ) http://www.netdialogue.com/yy/Europe/Germa...rmanyStates.htm ( in Saxe-Coburg-Gotha ) There still lots of things I'd like to know about this order, here are some of them : - Who is Ernestine ? ( is it Ernst the Dutch of Coburg-Gotha ? ) - I'd like to see how the Gold and Silver Merit Medals look like ( and some more images of the Merit cross would be great too ) - Are the little holes/pipes on the enamel for the letter or year date to attach are all the way to the other side of the medal or just half way ? - Would also love to see some more images of this order, all classes, if possible to see cased medals too, ribbon bars, medal bars . . . - What is written on the medal and what it means - Any other info you can share Thank you and best regards, Ran

Hi again Wild Card, Thanks for the info. First time I see this site. Annoying for me that it's in German or something. Some numbers which I asume are prices in Euros seemed kinda low, so I guess it's an auction ? or a final price ? If possible I'd like to know other places where nice imperial medals can be bought ( I know about http://emedals.ca/index.asp and Detlev but it's hard to buy from him since people grab everything very fast ). Rest of the sites I know are mostly for 3rd Reich. Best regards, Ran

Wild Card please explain what it is ? is it knight 2nd class ( looks like it ) but the "thing" that hold the crown is differnet. Is it a miniature or something ? More info please This is from Claudio collection, what this ribbon sais about the medal the person has ? and how can I know some info about the ribbons would be great, I'm really clueless here. ( thanks again Claudio ! ) Thanks, Ran

Thank you very much. Things starting to get clear now : Comander ( or commander 2nd class as some call it ) is the neck award. Comander 1st class would be the same neck award but also a breast star ( with 4 rays ). The difference between the Grand Cross and Commander Cross neck award is none in some cases and size in other cases. So, there is NO silver neck award ? only breast award in silver ( Knight 2nd class ) ? right ? Thanks again, Ran

OMG, cased Commander cross 2nd class ( right ? 1st class is breast and 2nd is neck cross ) with breast star. So how do I know this is Commander cross and not Grand cross, just cause of the breast star for now, can someone explain to me the difference between the awards ( the way they look ) themselves ? And yes, please more pictures, that's too beautiful. Medalnet, any chance to see more images of this amazing cased award ? Best regards, Ran
