    1. Interesting topic, I posted some photos on the same subject here: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/59750-a-medal-for-the-liberation-of-belgrade/

By the way tomorrow is the military parade marking 70 years since the liberation of Belgrade. This will be the biggest parade since 1985.

Yesterday was the rehearsal, I made couple of photos and videos, will try to upload them later.

Russian President Putin attended celebraions and parade.

He was awarded Order of Serbian Republic 1st class on large chain. This is supposedly the highest award of Serbia.

Here's the link to video, Putin recives award on 40 seconds into the video:

    2. By the way - what do you mean by "not professionally". How is handwork by an artisan less professional then mechanical stamping?

The engraving is done excellently, far better then Soviet Mint engraving of that time.

Lastly, we shouldn't forget that the Labor Heroes weren't produced on stock. Every piece was commissioned solely, assembled and finished one at a time.

I meant not done at the state mint, not in the same facility where awards were made.

    3. I don't understand what you mean. there are numbered versions and there are unnumbered ones.

Vast majority of these awards were without numbers.

One numbered example that I saw had number that looked like it was not done professionlly - it looked engraved rather than stamped, like on most Yugoslavian awards.

In my book these numbers were not placed on the awards on the mint.

    4. Techically hard enamel is not that complex to do if one has the equipment (it involves a stove to reach proper temperature for enamel powder to bake).

I suspect dark area on the edge is result of chemical reaction between metal, enamel and air, meaning the fakers didn't get the process down completely or didn't use correct materials.
