Gentlemen, we are working hard to bring our article into the internet for all of you to enjoy. If everything works well, the site will be ready this weekend. Unknown facts from the early Prussian aviation, daggers, uniforms, history, simply everything. It is the first story based on historical facts covering nearly every aspect about this subject. I will update this post with the link to our website as soon as possible. Thanks for looking ! Don?t miss it !! Best regards; Flyingdutchman

Gentlemen, just a few thoughts about the maker mark without the serifs. I think the maker mark on Vic?s badge is correct. There is an interesting offer on http://www.germaniainternational.com/kmiscellaneous.html . A spoon and a fork is offered. Both are marked with H.Schaper http://www.germaniainternational.com/image...rkimpregt05.jpg . There are no serifs on this maker mark ! The spoon and fork are genuine and period, imo, I?ve seen a lot like this. The spade pattern (Spatenmuster) of the grip was very common in that time. The marking IF 148 stands for Infanterie Regiment 148 (not J?ger... ). This is the Westpreussisches Infanterie Regiment 148. In my Imperial ranklist Hauptmann Grau is listed as an officer of that regiment. I think this is a proof that the non-serif maker mark is correct and from the time around 1912. I?m not saying that the one with serifs are bad, just thinking that the one posted is genuine as well. Just a few thoughts. Best; Dutch

Gentlemen, thanks for your nice comments ! I?m the German Co-author of Vic and both of us appreciate your statements. Herr General, we are interested for sure ! That is the reason why the Addendum exists. If you want, please email it to me through the site or use this adress, please: info@kaiserlicherautomobilclub.de Please add your name if you wish, so we can credit you for your support. Thanks in advance ! We really need highres pics, this is in the pipeline right now. But we are very busy with the following Aero Corps article. Incredibly infos we found about early aviation: German stealth airplanes in 1916, for example. Photo of the FIRST four German Milit?rflieger from D?beritz, Lugers, Richthofens uniform, Immelmanns plm etc. Thanks for looking to our site ! Best; Flyingdutchman

Gentlemen, here comes a dagger I can?t judge. I have contacted Kurt Glemser and he is thinking that this dagger could be an English navy dagger and probably was made for their Hanoveranian members. The dagger has a genuine ivory grip and shows age, but has been heavily cleaned. Any thougts on this greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance. Best; Flyingdutchman

Hi all, Soviet ? No ! Crossed prop and the prussian crown and eagle with the "Reichsfarben" black/white/red ?? This is Aero Club. But why there is a steering wheel and the wings ? Luftschiffe ? Maybe. They had control sticks ? Not sure. My idea was Prince Henry races and flights 1913 and 1914 ? German Volunteer Automobile-Corps members and Aero Club members participated. Vic Diehl and I want to feature this badge in our Aero-Corps article. Not a good idea without any special knowledge what it really is... Luftschiffe, maybe. Thanks for your help ! Best regards; Flyingdutchman

Gentlemen, what kind of badge is this ? I believe it has something to do with the German Aero Club and German Volunteer Automobile-Corps. Maybe a badge from the Prinz Heinrich races ? Both paramilitary organizations participated in those races. Would be great to hear the thoughts of the fellow members. Best; Flyingdutchman

Gentlemen. Vic Diehl and I have written an article about the German Imperial Automobile Corps. It will appear in the US Militaria Magazine in the October issue. We are also in contact with the German Deutsche Waffen Journal and the French Gazette des Uniforms. More than 60 pages with Automobiles, History, Bayonets, Broom handle Mausers, Reichsrevolvers, Uniforms, Lugers and Daggers ! We included a lot of never published infos. We hope it will be the future reference for collectors interested in the Kaiserliche Automobil-Club and Deutsches Freiwilligen Automobil-Corps. The whole article will be available in the internet in the next year - for free, of course. Now we are writing about the German Imperial AERO Club. or Kaiserlicher AERO Club If a fellow member here is able to provide us with infos about the AERO CLUB, it would be fantastic ! We are doing this for free. It?s our hobby and we want to share the knowledge about these mostly forgotten organizations. Please post it here or pm Vic Diehl or me. Thanks in advance ! Flyingdutchman replied to Flyingdutchman's topic in Swords & Edged Weapons
Gentlemen, here is the answer from Alcoso. He said that the logos til #18 were used until 1936 and #21-24 from 1936 until 1944. I?m confused now. Best; Flyingdutchman -
1890 damast cadet dagger with ivory grip
Flyingdutchman replied to Flyingdutchman's topic in Swords & Edged Weapons
Gentlemen, thanks for your input. Though waiting for the answer from the Alcoso company, I am becoming more and more sure that this blade is simply a reproduction. It?s a sad story. I bought this dagger in the early 90?s from a well known collector in Germany. I had absolutely no knowledge on the subject. I never checked the markings. For me it was pretty obvious that this dagger was a genuine item. Everything was there. The etched damascus blade, wonderful presentation, nice fittings and - markings. Never had the faintest idea that this item could be a fake, because the seller was well known. All other daggers I own were examined by highly experienced collectors - except this one. Bad luck. However my fault. I had 15yrs to check this one, I never did until now. I tossed this spare part Frankenstein out of the collection now. Sorry for bothering you with this tourist trinket. Thanks again for your help. Best regards; Flyingdutchman
