    1. Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, I removed dirt and rust with an oily rag. Unfortunately... Regards; Dutch
    2. Hi Ronny, yeah, that?s the original blue. Nice pistol pistole 08. Me likey ! BTW: I was in Norrk?ping for hunting a couple of years before. Beautiful and impressive landscape, friendly people. Thanks for sharing ! All the best; Flyingdutchman
    3. Hi Don, a little late, sorry. First pic shows Huis Doorn, where the german empereror lived from from 1920 until 1941. Second shows the mausoleum of Wilhelm II. In front you see the prussian eagle and surprisingly the graves from his dogs. He buried the dogs nearby, as Frederick the Great did in Potsdam. Regards; Flyingdutchman
    4. Hi, I was with my girl at the normandy coast in France two years before. This helmet was a gift of a friend of mine. Its a single decal M40. The helmet has a rare large size. Q68 ! Shell was camouflaged in green-brown-tan, but unfortunately most of the camo is gone. The single decal is nearly damaged, but you can recognize a small rest. A wild guess would be Heer eagle. The leather is a little bit hard and used, but still intact. The pigskin sturmiemen is marked, but indistinct. Liner and band sits tight in the shell. The leather is made from pigskin imo. Liner band is made of zinc and seems to me never removed. Split pins are rusted to the helmet shell. Some of you may have seen this already but I thought I could post here. First pic shows the helmet best imo, ?as it is?. Any opinions greatly appreciated ! Thanks in advance ! All the best; Flyingdutchman
    5. Hi Ronny, always nice to see an untouched Luger or Pistole 08. This one seems to have the original blue, that?s especially fine when you have the weapon with matching numbers. So don?t reblue parts ! The #655 means, that the acceptance inspection has been made directly in the Mauser factory in Oberndorf and in ?41. Any history behind this puppy ? Nice find ! Regards; Flyingdutch
    6. Thanks for the info ! I paid gbp 3 for each, so it will be ok. All the best; Flyingdutchman
    7. Gentlemen, I found this patch on a fleamarket. Is it an original one ? It?s seems to me sewn by hand. Very thick and heavy quality. Is this an item from ww2 ? Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance ! Regards; Flyingdutchman
    8. Gentlemen, the 90. Panzergrenadierdivison arrived on Sardinia in June ?43 under the command of the XIV Armeekorps. Commander of the 90. at this time was LtGen. Carl-Hans Lungershausen, the army commander of Sardinia and Corsica in ?43. This unit was evacuated to Corsica in September ?43. Units of the 90. Panzergrenadierdivision in that time (I?m not sure !): -Panzergrenadier Regiment 155, 200 and 361 (361 was in my opinion a unit with former members of the Legion Etrangere - a probation unit !). -Panzerabteilung 190, -Artillerieregiment 190, -Sturmgeschuetzabteilung 242 and -Panzerjaegerkompanie 1.190. BTW: Prince Claus of the Netherlands (1926 - 2002) was a soldier of this unit from ?44 on ! Interesting link to this unit: http://axishistory.com/index.php?id=1337 I just can imagine that the shields were worn on Sardinia, but unfortunately I don?t have a proof for that. I don?t believe it was a shield dedicated to hard combats. There were non imo. It would be great to see a picture from a soldier wearing this kind of shield during June and September ?43 on the isle. Thanks all for help ! Regards; Flyingdutchman
    9. Gentlemen, this is a ?Sardinienschild? - a shield for the field cap. It was worn by the members of the 90. Pz.gren.division. I found it with the original paper for the soldbuch. Unfortunately the stamp is a little bit indistinct. Is it rare ? Does it have any higher value ? Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks in advance ! Regards; Flyingdutchman
