    1. I do not have a side shot of this one but it is much, much thinner that the 1st one posted above. So a different manufacturer I assume.
    2. Another "strawberry seed" star in my collection, also a one-piece construction. The Tugra is different.
    3. Similar catch to that seen on various German awards... Note how thick this star is
    4. Hinge and catch have been replaced/repaired
    5. Very interesting indeed. As is stated above, you either love him or you detest him. He is very popular in France I believe. My view on this is that he was desperate to gain independence for France and that made him react the way he did as described in this BBC piece. As a strong French patriot he was obviously keen to avoid any control of France from the UK or the USA... maybe he was having a bad day. I do admire the guy for what he did during the war. Unfortunately, he remained in power for too long and came back to power during the Algerian "evenements" far too old and with old fashioned views.

      Tugra

Great collection. Thanks for showing. Can you post better photos of the screwback one?
    7. Three photos showing these tins "in action" and what I assume to be a number of these small WHW booklets hanging from buttonholes....
    8. Unfortunately zooming-in onto the booklets shows nothing more....It would have been nice to see which ones they are...
    9. Nobody else has any of these to show?? Just got a few interesting photos showing what I assume to be the little WHW booklets hanging from thesed people's coats but also the collecting tins in action!

      Tugra

Doesn't all this simply confirm that this is indeed a reverse mark left by the Tugra being pressed into place during manufacture? If you look at my Star, it also has a small part of the same reverse Tugra in the very same place. A true maker's mark would more likley be found in slightly different locations/orientation. The presence of the letters E.S. on Uwe's Star would seem to indicate a non-Ottoman/Turkish manufacturer?
    11. Very informative Demir. Tesekur ederim!

      Tugra

Can you also give us more explanation about this "El Gazi" mark?

      Tugra

WOW! Amazing subject! Many thanks! What are your comments about the Star with the "reverse Tugra" on the back? With E.S.?
