      Tugra

Very nice, thanks. Who is E.S.?

      Tugra

What are these letters? And can you also please show a full shot of the back with the pin/catch.

      Tugra

Are there some letters on the left? Here is the back of a similar Star. The large mark is not as clear. So, what is it then?

      Tugra

Thanks Guys. These are from my collection and only 2 are maker-marked: Top row, 1st left is AWS and 2nd is BB&Co. The last on the right is indeed a painted one, the so-called Turkish made. The bottom left is not marked so I am interested to read your comment about Godet. I know Demir has a great collection of these so I hope he will be able to chip-in although he is far from his home and collection right now. Come on everyone, get your Turkish stars out!

      Tugra

Demir and all collectors of Turkish War Medals, I think some of you can make a connection between the style of a Tugra and the manufacturer. Go on then!
    8. : hahaha Wonderful story attached to this terrible-looking star. Just goes to show how such a piece becomes much more interesting with provenance and when one knows how/where it was found. If you saw this for sale it would not be worth much yet it is a great piece of history.
    9. Thanks Demir. Here's my AWS-marked star. The Tugra is indeed similar.
    10. Nice one Demir. That Tugra is very different from the usual ones. Actually, I wanted to ask you if you had ever tried to show all the various types of Tugras found on the TWMs and possibly the names of any manufacturers identified, all next to each other? (I notice in Dogan Koleksiyon Para 2009, pages 129 and 139 that various Tugras are shown, corresponding to different Sultans. Have you thought of doing the same for the Tugras found on these stars?)
    11. Thanks Rick. No maker's mark unfortunately. Here's another view of the hinge
    12. This one is second row from top, 1st on left.
    13. The whole thing is well made and highly vaulted.
    14. An interesting twist.....the pin is horizontal. This type of pin is usually found in a vertical orientation. Any other similar examples (I do not mean BB+co or the painted Turkish manufactured ones. I mean, other stars with a similar "higher quality" pin set up in a vertical position)
    15. Just got this. I would appreciate some help in finding out a bit more about this gentleman and working out what the medals are. Tahnks.
    16. Quite common I think but still against regulation, 2 sets of EK2 ribbon + spange
    17. A new one in my collection. Any idea what uniform this is? Also, he is wearing the star on the wrong side, why? (same with the medal I guess).
