    1. Yup, an aluminium hull and steel turret. Many third world countries still use them.
    2. NOT AT VILLERS BOCAGE! The Germans never really stuck with a design for anything, unlike the allies with the sherman and t34. But, there's no doubt that they influenced future Tank design forever.
    3. So what does the trem, 'Rum, Bum & Baccy' come from?
    4. Yes, Its starting to smell abit. We seem to have opened the floodgates of 'compensation culture'......
    5. Hmmm..... I wonder who has it and when it will turn up.... i don't beleive that it was destroyed.
    6. [attachmentid=67] What can you tell us about this?
    7. Hi Kaktus, Welcome aboard. I thought the 'moth' had gone into production, but was being kept well away from observers. Yes and the gun is a beast... wub.gif
    8. That was a rally interesting post Dimdem. We are taught nothing about the American Civil War, yet it was an enormous war. I didn't realise it was such a massive issue, as regards to the Confederate flag. We also have a problem in UK , with flying the Union Flag, because of its association with Skinheads( racist thugs), which is sad, particularly as every one else flies their flag here.
    9. Welcome dimdem, Who would be stupid enough to buy a 'pig in a bag' without first looking at it? And how would you stop the cat from making meow noises? The Royal Navy , I believe was the only Navy to flog its naughty sailors. Perhaps 'Firfly' can help us on this one. John
    10. I'm with you BJOW, on the description! I would imagine you would have to be working with them to qualify. I'm sure someone will get one.....
    11. Welcome Masarobo, Fascinating subject. There is very little published about this 'forgotten' conflict. I've also heard that many police officers were pretty much soldiers out there. I would love to hear more. John wub.gif
    12. Barney & Paul, Geat posts, and fascinating information. I can't believe that you could sign up for 3 years or the 'duration'! Imagine that today, I enlist for Iraq, for the duration! Times have changed. I'm still unsure why they were labelled 'Service Batttalions' , though. Why weren't thet just called 9th Battalion The Essex Regiment ,though? John :food-smiley-004:
    13. Good Evening Mr Chairman. Will it be engraved?
    14. I say,"My medals. I'll do as I please with them!"
    15. Mr WASP ! How can you hate the press? they are very 'informative'! especially the 'Daily Sport'! No Mr WASP , I'm with you...never a truer word typed... John :food-smiley-004:
    16. Barney, fantastic post as ever. What did the 'Service Battalions' do and how many Battalions of the Essex were there? John wub.gif
    17. I always thought the term 'veteran' meant someone with long combat experience. It seems to have been manipulated by the media to include anyone with military experience whom they can write a story about. Maybe Pikemedals could help on this one ( sorry mate, you re very knowledgeabul!) John
    18. Hi Paul, Glad to be of service. I'm going to see if I can find where I saw it. It may have been a DNW/ SPINK etc, so I can hopefully provide solid evidence. I have certainly never heard of one with a bar. I would certainly appreciate a copy of the 1902 Role. John :food-smiley-004:
    19. Has anyone else seen the Silver 1887 + bar, Met Police Jubilee on Ebay? The medal is named to PC Snell 3rd Divn. I've seen this before , and it wasn't silver.... and the fact that there was only a small amount of these medals given out and always to Senior Ranks.... beware!
    20. Now that was a good hit! I think I might have to pay a visit myself ! wub.gif John
