    1. Thanks again Uwe, so would the red, white and black be a mixture of Prussian and Saxon colours to represent the merging of the two Royal families by way of marriage? Do you have any idea of how this medal might be described in German please?
    2. Hi gents, I recently purchased this from Klaus Butscheck, and it is described as a Bayern Ordensschleifen 8er. First of all, is this an Ordensschleifen or a Bandschleifen? Secondly, can anyone help me to catalog all the ribbons please? Thanks!
    3. Next is the father of hot air ballooning on a MEGA scale, Dr. Ing. Graf Ferdinand von Zeppelin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_von_Zeppelin
    4. Next up is Deutschland über alles - Patriotika 1915. I always thought it was a Nationalist anthem about Germany being above everyone else, but that is a common misconception. It's about unifying the country way back in 1822 - http://en.wikipedia....%C3%9Cber_Alles
    5. First up, Der Hauptmann von Köpenick (the Captain from Köpenick). A true story, the dvd is available from Amazon, though it is the 1956 colour remake, but still a great movie. The 1931 b&w movie is my favourite, and received an academy award nomination. I urge you to check it out, you will not be disappointed! An excellent commentary of Prussia's blind obedience to a uniform http://en.wikipedia....i/Wilhelm_Voigt http://en.wikipedia....ick_(1931_film) http://en.wikipedia....ick_(1956_film)
    6. Focke-Wulf Fw 58B-2 Weihe (Harrier). Check out the excellent view the front gunner has - http://en.wikipedia....ocke-Wulf_Fw_58
    7. I received my latest Miniatur ordensspange recently (is this the correct term?). I can ID the first two easy enough, but the third one has me stumped. It's referring to a 50th anniversary 1822-1872, and has Saxon ribbon. Can anyone help me with the correct name of this medal please? Something to do with a Prussa/Saxony Union? So
    8. Sorry mate, I may be wrong, but from L-R, the number two medal looks like an Imperial type. If so, I think it should be in front of the KVK, as should the Ehrenkruez für Frontkämpfer. I think the KVK and the Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen should be last, at number 3 and 4. I'm sure an Ordensspange collector here could give better advice, but it's a nice bar!
    9. Next is Oliva, T55. This is one of three only made of cardboard. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliwa
    10. Good one Pete! There were 74 Städtewappen Wenden released by the VDA. Next up is Ofen, T54 - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buda
    11. Hi, would you be able to steer me towards such books please? I am very interested in veterans association membership badges etc, and apart from the book that Uwe has just informed me about, I have not been able to find any titles on the subject.
    12. WOW! Thank you Uwe! (and you too Ulstermann ) I am going to buy that book also, I spent ages scrolling through the whole thing. So whoever received this was a Fechtmeister of the Deutsche Krieger-Fechtanstalt! Excellent! Here is the ribbon.
